The beds and pillows are amazing. The decor is great. My kids loved using the little shelves in the back bedroom. Skylights and coffee maker are a nice touch. Suggesting Cafe Cora's for breakfast was perfect. We will go back and stay longer.
Wifi was dropping out and slow.
The reception staff were fantastic. They were friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in how our visit was going and regularly asked if we needed help with anything. The room was full of charter and the location was awesome.
Location is perfect. Very close to Santa-Monica pear. Direct beach access through the back gate. Parking is available. Tea and coffee for free. Reasonable price.
Parking is too small and costs 36 $ per night. Free wi-fi is just for mail and social networks, very slow. I paid 40 $ for the week premium access, but it collapsed after 2 day of use, and no money back. Very thin walls – you can heard all neighbors talks, steps, shower – everything.
Location, helpful and friendly staff, room decoration
Fantastic location at the foot of the Santa Monica Pier and easy access to i405 and i10. A short drive to the Getty Villas.
Older and dated. Worlds smallest shower attached to a pretty small bath room. Tile needs repair. Continental Breakfast was pretty spartan.
Looked the look of the family room, very comfortable and so close to the beach and Santa Monica pier it was amazing. It was fabulous!!!!
Nothing bad about it!
Nice location, close to the Beach, very relaxing!!!!
Small parking space, and charge extra for the parking. Never received my invoice.
Location Value for money vs other hotels in the area
Floors were sticky and had not been cleaned in some time Noise - staff talked loudly and accessed a tap outside our window from 7:30am both mornings
Location is close to the beach , the staff was friendly & the beds was very comfortable
The breakfast was rip off & the wifi was weak , No AC in the room only ceiling fan
Value, proximity to Beach & pier, shops, restaurants
parking
Location was excellent - very close to the beach, pier and Third Street Promenade.
Balcony could have been cleaner (only a minor negative).
close to the action of santa Monica but Set back from the road, so pretty quiet, comfy beds.
Breakfast limited,
We enjoyed our stay although we had to change our room after the first night. Our new room was spacious and comfortable. It was close to the beach and all facilities. We liked the movie posters .
Hotel California never received my reservation from Bookings.com. Luckily, they still had an available room.

The hotel was very quaint and clean. Beds were VERY comfortable.
We stayed in 2 bedroom junior suite. It would have been fine for a family, but we were two couples. There was no door on 2nd bed, so NO privacy. Also TV got decent reception, but remote did not work & no movie channels available.
Excellent location. Most of the staff were warm and helpful. Lovely small, very clean room with very comfortable bed. All I needed as a solo traveler and just a short walk to the beach, Santa Monica Pier, and restaurants!
Tiny parking area.
surf motif location
old, "rustic" not enough outlets, had to unplug for computer noisy
Location
Fairly small room - but OK for one night
Location is the best part of this hotel tho it is on busy street.
Cramped room with thin walls. Could hear every cough, flushing toilet and passing garbage truck!
Very unique place. Some of the staff was great.
Parking. Very limited. Very expensive. Shades on Windows were broken so you could see into the room.
The staff was very helpful.
Parking was unacceptable and misleading. Overpriced for size and quality.
Location was ideal for our purposes. Liked the outdoor tables for evening cocktails, and the free coffee and yogurt in the morning.
Very noisy inside the suite. All floors were wood and thus no cushioning. You could hear everyone's footsteps. It felt like they were in the room. Very disturbing.
Location is great. Rooms are big enough for a family of 4.
If seems that the hotel has a policy of returning the packages delivered to the hotel when guess are not there, and this is RIDICULOUS!
Great location by the beach and close to shopping at the Santa Monica Place. Liked the 50's California ambiance.
Parking isn't included. Continental breakfast is offered but the orange juice was watered down and the coffee tasted like sour remnants from the bottom of the pot. The bed is comfy but the rooms are quite small.
setup of the accomodation is very nice, staff is very friendly and helpfull. Location great close to beach, pier, boulevard to Venice beach and shopping mall.
2 appartments above each other can be noisy. Free Wi-Fi is limited you can not watch YouTube ? Local parking expensive 36$/day, almost accross the street is a parkinggarage 14$/day
All good, staff was friendly, rooms clean, bed comfortable. Location great! Would definitely recommend this place.
Bed uncomfortable
Great location right by Santa Monica Pier. Fun deco in the rooms.
The breakfast was just coffee, juice, apples and cake. It was not refilled, so both times we came in there was only 1 roll and 1 cake left.
Here in feb. Room was cold. Shower impossible to keep at constant temperature.
fantastic location and reasonably priced
Staff could have been a little more friendly and helpful, rooms are small but clean!
We liked that the hotel was walking distance to Santa Monica Pier and the beach. The view was great too.
Hotel California is not value for money as the accommodation is smaller than advertised. The rooms need to be cleaned more in depth before people check in. The power points were dodgy - they moved most of the time. Electrical work is required. The hair dryer worked occasionally and the reset button had to be pressed regularly to ensure the hair dryer would work. Most importantly, the beds need to be longer as it was too short for me.
Close to the beach some cool old decor
Was over priced not what I'd paid for although they did refund me a small portion of my cost bathrooms were old and in need of renovation and no parking available but it does say this on there website
nicely located nearby Santa Monica beaches. great tile floors.
It was very noisy - traffic and revelers all night, then construction and sanitation trucks in the morning. The room was small and cramped; the room door was damaged from what looked like forced entry - this didn't promote a feeling of security. The bathroom hadn't been well cleaned - trash from prior stays had accumulated behind the toilet.
Name and location
All downhill from there. Involuntary eavesdropping all through the night. Breakfast a joke. "Steps to the sand" only for experienced hikers. To paraphrase the Eagles' song: "You can check out, but you should never check in."
Service and welcoming is horrinle ,room was not clean, there is no enough wireless to read your mails ....
