Lo que la gente dice
Lovely hotel with amazing staff! The hotel is on the 6th floor of a building that is next to Glasgow Central Station, which is the best location for a hotel in Glasgow, especially when you're traveling by train. We arrived at the middle of the night and had no problem at check-in. We are a family of 3, with an adult daughter, but due to a small renewal (about the roof I guess) they couldn't arrange a triple room for us and gave us a double room with an extra bed instead. That room was a bit sma. todo comentarios »
Great location, suited us as we were on a business trip and being so near the train station meant we could get to all our meetings. We were a bit worried when we booked it for two reasons. One we thought we wouldn't sleep due to the noise of the trains, this wasn't the case we did hear them very slightly but have stayed in many hotels with a lot more road noise. The other concern we had was we normally stay in the major hotel brands and this was our first stay in a boutique type of hotel. It wa.
The rooms were clean, just roomy enough, and quite stylish, with
inspiring views of the city. When I booked the room, I mentioned that we
were traveling in celebration of my father's 70th birthday, and they
had complimentary Prosecco on ice when we arrived (along with the coffee
and homemade biscuit/cupcake selection that I believe all guests
enjoy on arrival). The staff was super nice and very helpful, and you
can grind your own beans for coffee in your room. All unoccupied rooms
were open, so.
First impression is this boutique-style hotel has created a 'home
from home' atmosphere. The staff could not do enough to ensure I was
comfortable and that all my needs were taken care of. I truly felt that
I was staying in a home rather than a hotel. Being relatively new, the
whole hotel is fresh and immaculately decorated. The breakfast room is a
little small, but very cosy and there is also a communal sitting room.
Free wifi everywhere with super internet speed. As far as location is
concern.
Very friendly and efficient staff, hotel immaculately clean and nicely decorated while still keeping the character of the old building, fresh milk and ground coffee in rooms (VERY GOOD), very good quality food, both breakfasts (LOVELY fresh orange juice and meaty sausages) and evening meals, small enough hotel to be intimate, big shower unit, Egyptian bedlinen very comfortable, pretty fresh cakes left out for guests a very nice homely touch. Very good central position for sightseeing and restau.
What a fantastic location - right next to Central Station and on the doorstep of Glasgow's fabulous shopping and entertainment. Located on the 6th floor of an office building, it is secure and peaceful despite it's position in the hub of the city centre. Transport links an easy walk away. Staff are very welcoming - yummy cakes, shortbread and real coffee supplied. The Kitchen is a great place to eat. Breakfasts are excellent and, if you are in town Monday to Friday, Margo's dinners are not to b.
The people who run it are very friendly and welcoming. The hotel( and the room I stayed in ) is modern ,stylish, light and airy.
the brekafast is delightful, vareid and designed for a modern sophisticated palate (mine!).
I was given some helpful hints about where to eat and drink and a taxi booked next morning without fuss.
Only strange thing is the entrance, easy to miss, the hotel is part of an office complex but that is neither here nor there when you arrive in the reception on the 5th flo.
The had an overnight stay in the Grasshopper and couldn't fault it. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms although 'compact' were spotless and had everything you require for an overnight stay. The dining room was really inviting and encouragement not to eat alone added a nice touch. The food was fresh and there was plenty to choose from. The location of the hotel is 1st class. All in all we had an enjoyable stay and will definitely stay in the future. Already recommended i.
what a Gem . we were made very welcome,All the staff were friendly and helpful. the food was delicious, all fresh cooked. The little details made it special:::, cupcakes ,fresh milk in your room in a flask , ground coffee with a cafetiere, thick full size bath sheet towels, an electric radiator which you could control room temp .Pure cotton bedding and Duckdown duvet & pillows . Best nights sleep ever. The Hotel motto You never left home ...... Do not be put off by entrance. Highly Rec.
great location for Glasgow central for trains, easy check-in, lovely clean colourful rooms, very comfortable beds, and not too noisy considering we were overlooking the roof of the station, loved the sitting/reading room with cosy sofas and chairs, and the breakfast room, simple and modern design, and serves great cooked breakfast , and nice fresh coffee where you help yourself. We were given home meade cakes and fresh coffee at check in which was very welcoming...perfect stay here!.
The ethos and ambience were immediately evident, from Reception on arrival through to Breakfast in The Kitchen - a great breakfast, good selection of juices, cereals, yoghurts and quality, flavoursome cooked food, , lovely bread and brilliant coffee, Management and staff were very sociable, pleasantly conversant and very efficient. My room was very comfortable, with very good facilities for my short stay. I certainly look forward to my next visit to Grasshoppers Hotel.
The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and modern, lovely white washed walls with ikea type furniture and fittings. Lovely finishing touches, fresh milk for tea and a little homemade cake on our arrival. Reception had a good city map which we took with us to help us find our way around. Excellent location, just outside Central Station, a godsend when you have heavy bags. Would definitely stay here again.
This is an excellent small boutique hotel on the 6th floor above Virgin/ First rail offices ( with lift ). The welcome is excellent with fresh milk for room tea/ coffee, also a small cake & biscuit and a packet of smarties left on the table. It is in a building that is directly adjacent to Glasgow central station, literally about 3o feet from the East side entrance. The double en suite room was ideal. Price was good.
Fantastice location, right in the very heart of Glasgow city. Very clean, modern, nicely decorated rooms. Comfortable bed, good showers. Friendly, helpful staff. Great friendly atmosphere. Really welcoming - cupcakes and box of Smarties a welcome treat, great artworks and design, nice public breakout room if you wanna get out of your room for a read. We'll be going back when we're next in Glasgow.
The grasshopper hotel is located on the 6th floor of a building right above the train station. The rooms are quiet and nicely laid out. They have great coffee and a nice breakfast there, as well as courtesy cupcakes and water which make your stay just a little extra nice. We got excellent service from the staff. If wasn't a very romantic place, but certainty practical for visiting Glasgow.
Everything about the hotel is wonderful. The kindest and friendliest hotel staff I have ever come across. Beautiful bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. Gorgeous aesthetics, with local artists' artwork on the walls of the corridors and beautiful modern furniture in the Kitchen. Delightfully comfortable beds with down blankets. New and modern bathroom facilities--showering was a dream!.
Very warm welcome with home-made cupcakes and shortbread on arrival - fresh milk and real coffee for our room. A glass of proseco on the house and a guided tour of all the prints and paintings lining the walls. Comfy beds with good quality bed linen, and delicious breakfast. Attention to detail. Would certainly stay again when visiting Glasgow and recommend to friends.
Loved the home-made cupcakes and real coffee when we arrived! Breakfast was also excellent, served by genuinely cheerful and helpful staff. Location was central and very convenient. Decor everywhere was tasteful, up-to-date and very clean. I really liked the art down the main corridor. Bedroom and ensuite were well-appointed - shower was spacious and lighting bright.
Central location, modern feel of room, it had clean lines and was uncluttered. Owner greeted us with a bottle of wine, making us feel very welcome. The communal lounge area was a nice idea. The breakfast room was little but the red and black currants were delicious! Although there weren't a lot of facilities in our room, nothing was too much bother when we asked.
Check in quick and shown to room.
Fresh coffee and milk and shortbread brought to room.
Flat screen tv and sky hd box.
Large shower with big shower head.
Very comfortable bed
Choice of breakfast in dining area or brought to your room if you tell them night before what you would like and what time or serve yourself and take it to your room.
Very central location.
Relaxed and genuine service, nothing obsequious here. It's my second stay and I'll return again without question. Love the free cupcakes in the corridors! Excellent kitchen, with dinner available (very reasonable prices, £13 for 2 courses) - although I would almost always choose to eat out the smell of food when I checked in was almost irresistible.
Cannot fault this super friendly hotel. For our price range it was
beyond perfect. Central for everything. Breakfast was lovely and when we
cheekily asked...do you have beans too. &Quot;Let me have a look"
and they did have. Advised us where to go, seemed genuinely interested
in our trip. Super comfy, modern rooms. We will definately be back.
THE best hotel I have stayed in in years!
Very serene, modern yet cosy. All the staff are lovely and go out of their way to help on those odd requests that spring up. Very much enjoyed my 3 nights there and would return in a heartbeat!
Excellent food and love their slogan - Never eat alone - the weekday kitchen dinner idea is brilliant!.
The hotel was not fully booked when we arrived so we got upgraded free of charge into a larger room. The facilities are decent and the staff were efficient. The hotel is on the sixth floor of a building near the central train station and there was therefore no street noise. The location is central but was not in the nicest part of town.
It is very central for shops, bars and restaurants. The staff are very helpful and it is a nice touch that you get fresh milk, real coffee and cake on arrival. It also has Sky plus including the sports channel. The breakfast was very good and all the staff were efficient and helpful. Also is is stone throw from Central station.
This is one of the best city hotels I have stayed in and I cannot recommend it highly enough to other travellers. The staff are very helpful and friendly and you are made to feel very welcome. I loved the decor which is clean and modern. Breakfast was delightful as were the little touches like cupcakes and Smarties in the room.
Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful without being over-attentive. Breakfast was very good, with great bread and good variety of options. The evening meal I had (veggie option) was expertly done. Room comfy, great telly, with lots of channels. Fresh milk and ground coffee for cafetiere brought to room any time.
clean room .amazing staff! The hotel is on the 6th floor of a building that is next to Glasgow Central Station, which is the best location for a hotel in Glasgow if you're traveling by train.breakfast was very nice.receptionlady she was so nice when we arrived.she was so helpfull.and checkout was fast and very good.
This was our second stay in the Grasshopper Hotel and was just as enjoyable as the first.
It is clean, bright and friendly-totally different to many chain hotels, you feel like a valued customer.
Sean,Wife and Staff are always willing to have a chat and give advice if needed-they obviously take pride in what they do.
This was the most enjoyable hotel I stayed at. while in Glasgow. The staff was fantastic. Cupcakes in the hallway and breakfast in the morning were wonderful.Sean you have done an amazing job! Dinner is served and a very strong family presence atmosphere. Be sure to try the dinners and don't eat alone.
I thought the rooms was excellent value for money . The hotel was easy to find and no problems with parking . Staff were really helpfull and friendly . Easy access into hotel on our return from our night out . Breakfast was fab !!
Will be using this hotel again and have recommended to all my friends.
Great location over the train station (yet reasonably quiet - no train noise). Great neighbourhood to explore. Cool venue for hotel - a single floor in an old multi-use building. Great service and great amenities (coffee, cake, excellent breakfast).
Loved the city - wish I could have stayed longer.
Without doubt the staff, manager and owner all amazing, nothing was too much trouble for them. Excellent breakfast with a good choice for all. Lovely touches such as homemade fresh cupcakes readily available. Pleasant decor throughout. I really enjoyed my stay thanks very much to the staff.
Although there were a couple of damp stains on the corridor wall, the ambience is stylish, modern, comfortable and unpretentious. The fact that it is the top floor of an office building makes it seem
like a top-of-range B & B, but the staff were friendly and I would stay there again.
i loved the friendliness of staff, nothing was too much trouble, i forgot a booking form for meal at nite and the girl printed it off for me. The cleanliness is 2nd to none beds very comfy slept right through and breakfast was so good and im very fussy . A wee gem for a nite in glasgow.
We liked everything about the hotel staff very helpful rooms very clean and comfortable breakfast a good selection to suit all diets we will be visiting the hotel again but this time we will go by train because the hotel is situated in an ideal place two minutes walk from the station.
The location was excellent, close to the train station and all the city centre amenities. The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were very welcoming and the cupcakes, mince pies and mulled wine were a real treat. Breakfast was excellent. Will definitely stay here again.
Fresh coffee and free cupcakes on arrival. The staff were lovely. The breakfast was fanastic! The room amenities are quality complete with sky hd! The pillows and bed were super comfy & the bath towel was massive :) Will most definitely be returning! I felt extremely welcome.
We loved the location, very convenient and close to Central Station. We were exhibiting at the SECC and traveling was very easy. Also loved the central location in the City. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms, breakfast and service was excellent. We will def be back.
We loved the hotel, the staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us,also very central to our needs to get around Glasgow. Breakfast was great, everything you could wish for and more. We would not hesitate to visit Grasshopper Hotel the next time we visit Glasgow.
The staff were very friendly and helpful with tips on places to eat. We liked the fresh milk and coffee on request and the wide and very fresh breakfast choice. Even though the hotel is right in the heart of the city it has a very relaxed ambience with its rooftop views.
Everything about this hotel. Friendly, super clean with an amazing
attention to detail. the staff are relaxed, friendly and efficient. The kitchen produces delicious meals negating the necessity to go out. Breakfasts are self-serve with great variety. I loved it all.
Very clean, cheerful Scandinavian feel to everything. Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent location for Central Train Station. Good security, which is necessary in downtown Glasgow. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet given the location.
The cutest hotel ever, very surpassing, the building as you go is just an ugly office building, but when you get to the sixth flour....it is completely different, it is charming place with the best cake...and they are free, really good location! We loved it!.
I was made to feel welcome as if I was at home. Staff were really great. Breakfast very good, catered for a veggie. Only had one evening meal but it was really good; wish had more.
Will stay again when I visit Glasgow. Travel a lot, wish there were others.
Location right above the central station. Clean and modern rooms, although on the smaller side, perfectly enough for a solo traveller. Lovely personal service from the staff. Small treats to guests such as complimentary cupcakes, biscuits and mulled wine.
Great location, next door to Glasgow Central Station. Nice single room, good bed, large TV with wide selection of channels. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Great place to use as a base for shopping and/or enjoying great restaurants close by.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was super.
Breakfast was superb and I liked the mixture of small and large communal tables in the room.
The free home made cakes and biscuits available on you return at the end of the day was a real treat.
Central location, ideal for train station and shopping. Hotel was clean and modern and rooms were comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Loved the little touches such as fresh coffee and cupcakes on arrival.
Wonderful stay here! All staff were superb. Very clean with beautiful high thread count bed linen. We have raved about it to friends and family. Food was super and I commented to staff that it felt as though we were at home!! M and T Clark, Aberdeen.
Really nothing. When we first arrived only one lift was working but it didn't inconvenience us at all. We were a bit apprehensive when we entered the building but when you get to the sixth floor it is so lovely and bright.
The street below seemed a little seedy the first afternoon, and you have
to buzz an intercom to get let in. This seemed less sketchy the next day
-- like any urban environment, it all seems a little intimidating at
first. Nice shops and restaurants nearby, so I think the neighborhood is
probably fine. But folks who have trouble adjusting to such an
environment may want to look for a more posh address.
I have nothing negative to say about my stay at Grasshoppers.
Being in the City Centre meant that rooms on street side were noisy in the early hours even when windows closed (lots of young revellers) - (paint ball guns should be provided for retaliation!) No solution and visitors have to accept it as part of a city centre - really thick double glazing would lose the character, and we personally hate airconditioning in hotels.
Nothing.
Nothing about the hotel, but the seagulls outside on the roof have not mastered night and day and never seemed to sleep!.
The sign outside is small, so I walked past the first time. I understand that they are thinking of changing it.
While it didn't bother me at all, the hotel is above Central railway station, so the rear rooms overlook the roof of the station (which I found a rather cool and interesting view!). The view is great, but if you are a light sleeper you may notice a bit of noise from the station...but they don't run all night :-).
The street the hotel is located on is a bit shady- And because Glasgow is so easy to navigate I'd say if you are not making use of the close promximty to the train station but are looking for a hip city experience you may want to try a different part of town. If you are using the train this place is great and very nicely run.
We had booked a triple room as our adult daughter was with us but, like an earlier respondent, the one we were given was a bit tight on space and the single was a z-bed; she didn't find it particularly comfortable.
Windows were not double glazed so noise outside from Mad Friday was noticeable, right through to wee hours. Glaswegians know how to have a good time! Subsequent nights were quieter. A hair drier in the room would have been good.
No wardrope in room 2 poles on wall with 3 coat hangers on each not very good if you staying more than 2 nights.
skirting boards very dusty hadnt been cleaned for a while.
A minor thing because temporary, but my room was next to a section of corridor blocked off for decorating. I imagine this could have been disruptive if in the room during the day. As it was, it didn't affect me at all.
Wasn't much space for clothes but bedside tables doubled as chest
of drawers so not really a problem. Couldn't find the actual
number of hotel on Union st but just phoned and them and it was
obvious where it was.
Not a thing!.
There is no hairdryer and the shower was not very hot.
I defy anyone to find anything negative about this hotel!.
the only thing i dont like it is the smill of the left inside the bulding.
Nothing negative.
There was nothing i didnt like apart from the room being too hot but turned heating down . No problems .
Room was just too warm, but this problem it seems is being addressed as fans were being installed during my stay.
The room was a but pokey with only a single bed but I paid for a single room. I couldn't get the television to work.
There was nothing i didnt like .
Can,t think of any negatives.
Absolutely NO Dislikes.
The breakfast room is cosy and can become congested when people are getting up and down for more delicious food..
The fact no-one during my stay used the lounge. Perhaps I was just unlucky. would soft classical music help?.
Give us a hint that it's on the 6th floor of an elderly office building before we show up and wonder where the lobby and the doorman are. Bathroom problems: inadequate lighting, sink much too small, not enough shelves, particularly in the shower stall where we had to store the soap on the floor, not enough towel racks or hooks.
Nothing.
Single glazed windows that let all the noise from the street into the room - even in the 6th floor.
A bit noisy from time to time if window left open, but this was primarily due to central location.
We stayed on a Friday night on the Union Street side and hardly got any sleep as the noise from the street was really bad. Would have asked to move if we had been staying more than one night. Maybe secondary glazing would help.
