We loved the cleanliness of the Hostal. We also enjoyed the excellent
location and walking distance to historical sites and museums. Our
host, Luisa was excellent, helpful and very friendly. She was there to
greet us and allowed us to come back for an extra day after our train
to Paris was cancelled. Her brother was also very helpful and friendly.

We would come back to the same Hostal without hesitation next time we
visit Madrid. -
Loved the location, Hostal Mayor was close to major attractions such as
Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. It was also very near the underground.
Shower had great pressure and the rooms were very clean. In addition to
this the view from the balcony was also great. Over all a nice
comfortable place to stay, we enjoyed it and would recommend to others

The hostal was located right at the Puerta Del Sol. The location was perfect for exploration of the city. The room was clean and the towels/sheets were changed out regularly. While there were daily protests in the plaza, we never felt unsafe. The lady who worked the front desk did not speak English, but this was not a problem for us. If trying

Fantastic location (you can walk everywhere from there), perfect facilities and lots of kitchen utensils, excellent and efficient staff, easy check in/check out process, extremely clean, amazing terrace, no noise and black out blinds for great sleep. Central location, didn't use the metro at all in 5 days.
On the 7th floor (with a lift) so although in the middle of everything it was very quiet. If you didn't close the blinds you can see the sky whilst lying in bed, nice.Fully equiped kitchen. Very fast free wi fi.

The studio apartment was very good and over-looking the main tourist area. Yet it was not noisy as the air-conditioning and sound-proofing was good. The first day the studio was a hole-in the wall. But they apologised and cut a third of the room rent and moved us the next day. So when you book insist on the second floor apartment. -

It's all about location. Within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go in Madrid. On a side street, so no noise from traffic. Huge number of eating and drinking possibilities in the immediate area. The covered market just around the corner is great for tapas and wine.
