Location is perfect, close to every sightseeing spots in Kyoto. Staff are well trained and good in English. Guest room is clean with a big bathtub, free WiFi available. I'll surely stay here again for my next trip in Kyoto.

Comfortable beds and a massage chair in a spacious and clean quadruple family room that comes with a big bathroom with a good shower and a big tub. Right in Gion within walking distance to the geisha area and the main shopping street with all the shops and restaurants. Walking distance too to the meandering cobbled streets lined with little shops that can lead to Kiyomizu-dera, a UNESCO heritage site. Bus stops within minutes' walk, absolutely no problem for anyone who travels from Tokyo by train to hop on to a bus that leads to this hotel. Professional staff.

Room was terrific. Spotless, roomy, comfy and well appointed with every detail and in japanese style. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Japanese food with small selection of western as well. Breakfast staff extra nice. Location superb.

Location was great for viewing all the Temples and Srines. Room was large, well furnished with a great wet room. The whole standard was five star.

For European guests black tea would be better than green. That was the only fault we could find.

Excellent central location in Gion. The taxi driver from Kyoto station was not familiar with the hotel or its location. When drivers don't know a destination, they can locate it by calling the hotel so make sure you have the phone number handy. Unfortunately, my driver mistook the hotel's postal code for a phone number, but after a few minutes of confusion, he made another call to dispatch (I assume) and was directed to the hotel. He was polite and courteous the whole time. Yasaka Shrine is a block away from the hotel. Go there early and you will have it to yourself. I had a room at the end of the hall and it was nice and quiet. The shower room is huge for Japanese standards. As some other previous guests have reported, the staff are not fully fluent in English, but they do make every effort to assist you. One thing, this hotel does not use card keys - they use actual keys on a keychain. You must turn your key into the front desk each time you leave the hotel and ask for it when you return. Once inside your room, the black plastic keychain needs to be inserted into a holder on the wall that looks like a light switch. This will enable the electrical power in the room. I only mention this as one day I went down to the lobby and there were some European guests trying to explain to the desk staff that their room had no electricity. The staff were confused and thought the guests needed maintenance in the room. I explained to the guests how to use the key to turn the lights on. Everybody was happy the staff were very appreciative. Very pleased with this accommodation.

Location Location Location. Close to everywhere you want to be in Kyoto. Comfortable size room with amazingly large bathroom. Clean hotel and polite and helpful staff.

The room was poorly insulated, so you would hear all those cars buzzing by when you're trying to sleep, which is very annoying. Had it not been for that, the hotel would have been excellent value for the money.

Excellent location in the very center of old Kyoto city with lots of places to see right around the corner. The hotel provides friendly japanese hospitality services and is a good value for money. Nothing to regret or feel sorry about. Highly recommended for short-term stays in Kyoto

Suprisingly enough the rooms not not have wardrobes or any other places to keep clothes in but only a rail with a few hangers on it.

the room we stayed was very spacious, clean and location is good. the hotel is just next to Yasaka shrine and near to Kodaiji, Kiyomizudera, Chionin and Gion. many restaurants around the hotel. hotel staffs are able to communicate in english and they are very friendly and helpful.

Spacious room, quiet, clean, friendly and helpful staff. I felt safe as houses! I liked the breakfast in the Japanese style, where I first tried natto. Hotel location great for independent travelers! You can see historical monuments and visit Gion, buy souvenirs at Shijo-dori. Near bus stop and metro station. Just enough to get anywhere in the city.I am happy to stay at this hotel again! This was a very nice hotel. The rooms are large by japanese standards. We had a nice territorial view looking toward the temple. A five minute walk from the Gion street.

When we first made the reservation on letsbookhotel.com, we were booked in at $200 per night for 3 of us. That was an excellent rate for this hotel. But then I changed the date by a day and didn't notice that the daily rate went up to $400 a day for that extra day!

Location is in Gion which is very near famous attractions such as Gion shijo (Geisha street), Kiyomizu dera, Yasaka shrine and just 10 mins by bus to the city center and Kyoto station. the room is very big compare to standard Japanese hotel.

Much dust under the beds, that probably were not moved for a long time. This is strange beacuse, apart from that, cleanliness was flawless.

The location was simply perfect. Two major avenues, maybe 4-5 temples at the back. And countless shops at the back. For anyone staying there, please dont miss this teahouse at the back, rakusho, 517 Washio-chio Kodaiji, Kitamonzen, Higashimaya-ku...I Found my soul there...you will want to go early or else you'll be subjected to being hypnotized by a pocket garden with 2-3 mini waterfalls, and kois that seem to bedazzle you with their beauty while waiting. Unlike gardens in temples, this one feels that the garden was meant for you. After a while, you would have forgotten why and where you are.

The only problem I had was one of the bed was in a slanted position because of the wall. It made the room look and feel smaller...

The rooms are really BIG compared to other Japanese business hotels of the same price range. Everything seem to be brand new and clean and well-designed. The location is also good for the sightseeing.

Internet connection worked from time to time. Sometimes I couldn't connect even by cable! The problem occured the day we moved in. Personnel did something (rebooted the system?) and connection was restored, but in a few hours connection was lost again.

Need hooks in the bathroom. Down comforters too thick for summer. Had to keep aircon blasting to sleep. Need crem and sugar for coffee. More than one pillow per person would be nice. Sone drawers too.

Location location location! Best ever! Right near the Yasaka Shrine and lots of stores around. Also other Temples were not so far away. Best view in this district for tea houses, geishas, etc. Hotel Room was very big and you could request in room massage, which was quite good. A big bath in the room completed the very good impression.

Staff was not always very friendly, depending on who was there. Some don't speak english very well (which is rather common in Japan however). Only after speaking some words in Japanese they opened up... In the corridor some music is playing and you can hear that in the room sometimes. (At night this is stopped however!!)

Excellent location, really clean rooms with large wet room and spa bath. A quiet hotel which is excellent value for money. They also now have free wifi (site said only free wired).

We booked a room for three adults - there were two separate beds and an extra bed but since the room was enormously spacious, we had plenty of space. The (Japanese style) bathroom was amazingly huge, almost another room in itself. There was a bath with jacuzzi, and a shower as in a Japanese onsen. This was definitely the best room in Japan we've stayed in. The location is perfect - walking distance to Gion and other sights, a bus stop is only 100 meters away. Breakfast buffet was OK but could be better (actually, Japanese dishes were quite good while the "Western" style food was limited to (cold) scrambled eggs, some sausages, yoghurt, jam and bread).

The receptionists speak only limited English; it's usually not a big deal since they are very helpful but it may create some misunderstandings. Also, the information about the hotel and the room equipment was available in Japanese only which is not very helpful if you do not know how to read Japanese.

As we were traveling with a young child, the staff upgraded our room for free. The big bathroom was great. The location of this hotel is perfect, right in Gion district and close to many temples.
