Now imho this is a true 5 star hotel with old charm - again but that is another story. I had a real nice, large room, colonial style, but equipped with all modern and luxurious amenities on the 5th floor in the so called new wing with windows and a small balcony (who needs this?) facing Saigon river. Don't miss a visit of the M.Bar on floor 8 in the evening. Looking across the river I always ask myself how many years will it take that this look will change to that in Shanghai across the Huanghu.
all reviews » The staff were wonderful, so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and were provided with beautiful flowers and chocolates on arrival. Breakfast and other meals we ate at the hotel were delicious. Our room was beautiful and overlooked the river and the sea of traffic in the street below. We could not recommend The Majestic more highly. It was exceptional. We are a couple of mature cashed up bogans from Western Australia. This was are first time in Saigon and found the hotel Majestic to meet all our expectations both in grandeur and comfort. The hotel lives up to its name and reputation as one of the finer hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. The breakfast was as good as it gets. This is a big bang for your Buck. Gazz and Hells. Spacious size of room, well appointed and enjoyed daily fresh fruit. central location of hotel, riverfront situation, fabulous old world feel Excellent buffet breakfast on the 5th floor rooftop Fabulous 8th floor rooftop bar with entertainment Spectacular views Extremely knowledgable and helpful concierge. Lovely hotel,although I wish we had chosen to have a river view as we had a very poor outlook from the window. The location is on the edge of District 1 as there is not a lot to do along the river.we will choose a more central place next time but tHe rooftop bar was great, with lovely views of the river. We paid to be upgraded to a wonderful suite, it felt historic and was comfortable, the kids loved the jacuzzi bath, especially since they could watch TV whilst in it! We had dinner in the rooftop bar which had lovely views. Lots of space in the room, bathroom and living room. The room was lovely and the service and breakfast very professional. The hotel has a great deal of character and I would strongly recommend it over the new high rise hotels like the Sheraton. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and overall we are satisfied with our choice. As always everything,we were welcomed back after a short trip to Dalat and when I asked to change the room as it was in the new wing and I prefer the classic wing.There was no problem we were given a larger room with a huge bathroom straight away. Location was great and very easy to get around to the city and sights. The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to assist us at any time. Superb decoration style 1925 spacious rooms. Nothing to report. The spa services were not up to the standard of the hotel The spa itself requires updating. Nothing really. some of the rooms smelt a bit musty (hence we upgraded, but we were delighted with the upgrade). The restaurant was empty and because of that uninviting; the 8th floor roof top bar was loud and not very pleasant. I asked for a car and driver to take my wife and me to Can Tho, for which the hotel was going to charge us 198 US. A taxi in front of the hotel took us there for 100 US. Having to leave!. snack menus need a little more variety. Nothing we did not like. Nothing. There was some noise ,music from roof bar,on one occasion very loud music at 4.30pm for an empty bar. Staff should be more aware of unnecessary loud music. Aircon in room only cooling down to 24 to 25c. Breakfast ok but cheese and sausage could look fresher. Room "with city view" offered very little city view but mostly faced another building instead. Old Hotel with great potential for refurbishment ... a little tired on the outside . Inside grand ! Rooms a little dark even with all the lights on ???. Strange choice of music in roof bar. Nothing. Breakfast wasn't great. Book without and go out for blast (you're in the middle of the city). No excuse for poor coffee in Vietnam... Breakfast is ok but not at the level of a palace (juices,...) Still some noise in the rooms at the front of the river despite double double windows. Initially we found the dark wood furniture a little old fashioned, but having visited some of the modern hotel bars, when returning later in the holiday to the Majestic, we appreciated the uniqueness of its style. So now we just hope that the new extention they are building does not detract from its original character. A bit noisy on the lower floor but that was part of the overall experience. Nothing really to complain about. Having to pay again because I had a different visa card number (lost the previous one). This meant I also had to pay a $29.90 conversion fee and have my credit card debited for over a $1000 which still hasn't been reimbursed (2.5 weeks later). Shower over bath. Air conditioning not cold enough. Nothing much to pick on. Maybe sound-proofing can be improved. It didn't really bother me much as hotel did not seem to be very occupied when I was there, but I can imagine it could get noisy if there are more people walking along the corridors. Quite pricey compared with other hotels we stayed at on our Vietnam trip. We stayed at some very nice hotels for a lot less. There is work being done next door. I think it's an extension. It was not overly noisy but I suspect it may get louder as the work develops. Not many sunbeds in the pool area. No welcome drink given to us but after check we noted others received. Old fashioned needs renovation damp. The front desk people seemed to be micro-managed to the point of their inability to make decisions on their own. Additional charge for late check out. rooms on street side has to much noise! traffic noise starts at 06.00 AM and ends at 02.00 AM!. The rooms and bathrooms are not 5 star as rated.
