The location was great for access to Volcano National Park. The tour of the on-site lava tube was great. The setting was beautiful. Breakfast first day seemed kind of limited for kids but realized Shannon thought is was for two adults. Once she found out I was traveling with my daughter she put out "kid-friendly" options. Very, very responsive. location was excellent, lava tour on their property was fascinating, and family room #5 accommodation was spacious and well equipped with everything you could need - owners have excellent Aloha spirit and are accessible on property. Beautiful surroundings and proximately to National Volcano Park.
all reviews » What a great setting for a quirky place to stay. The lava tube tour was amazing, but not for the faint hearted! Breakfast was great and the room comfortable. It is not difficult to find, we were sent good directions. Anything we asked for was provided, but we sometimes did need to ask. We stayed in the family suite, which was very clean comfortable. Decorated like you are a guest in someone's house. The private lava tube tour from Malcolm was mind blowing, and a big highlight of our holiday. Shannon and Dan were so hospitable and kind. The place was secluded and quiet as well. And there was the bonus of the Kazamara Cave/Lave tube tour in the morning was awesome!!! Harold and Sandra Brown. Very nicely decorated and clean. Enjoyed the indoor jacuzzi but I wouldn't say it fits 2 people. Loved the tour of part of the Kazumura Lava Cave on premise. The lava tube tour was great and it was a very cozy place to stay! The outdoor hot tub was nice after a long day of hiking!. Dan did the lava tube tour at night for us and it was great. Location to Volcano National Park can not be beat. The setting. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Simple but adequate breakfast. Very nice B&B - The hosts are friendly and extremely helpful. Staff very kindly and the lava tube was very wild and amazing... close to the volcano park entrance. The lava tour was a very vigorous hike. People who do not exercise should go with a fair warning. Well located for getting to the national park. Set in a lovely tropical garden and the lava tube tour was great. Typical B&B. jungle atmosphere, proximity to national park, fresh fruit, coffeemaker. They accommodated my gluten free diet. Nothing, it was great. no a/c and because the area is damp their is a slight must smell. The organisation is very laid back! If you can't cope with this, then we suggest you find somewhere else. It was for us part of the 'aloha' experience - we loved it!!. We had trouble finding the lodge. Don't depend on google maps; instead ask for directions. I think there were mosquitos even in November. Woke up with quite a few mosquito bites even though we didn't notice them in the room. I think the owners need to let people know so they can spray mosquito repellant before bed. I liked this, my husband was less sure ... having the jacuzzi "in the kitchen. There is a shoji screen for some privacy and it's a great tub!. The rooms are very wet. The handle of the shower is broken. We stayed two nights, but only one breakfast was provided. Besides the yogurts, the milk and juice were served in pitchers with suran wraps over them. Hope they were not expired. There is a very low branch at the entrance. A little difficult to find. musty smell. It was very hard to find. There was supposed to be a microwave and there was a toaster oven instead. Had to heat water in a coffee maker. No towel rack in the bathroom. Tub was behind the bed and not in a separate unit. Not good value for yet money.
