Stayed 4th Dec 2013.Hotel location great, just at entrance to Chinatown and short walk to Union Square and Market Street, only there for 2 nights so good for us. Staff very helpful and let us leave our bags there after checkout until early evening until we flying out. Very clean and big bed and plenty space in the room. Shower in bathroom great pressure and nice and hot.
Would recommend for short stopover, certainly not luxury but adequate.

The staff was very friendly and flexible when our plans changed. Parking facility was excellent and secure. - The room was super clean, oversized and the tub drained!! :) Parking was limited but free! The free coffee was better than Starbucks! The hotel is only a block from the bus to get to Pier 39.

This place is a 90 year old hotel and it wears it well. It's elevator is a clicketly-clack apparatus with a scissor gate-that you have to hold the floor number for a couple of seconds to roll- did I feel safe using it? Yes. We have stayed at this motel three times now. Each time the rooms have been really large and comfortable. Each has a microwave and a refridgerator. The neighborhood is really cute with lots of funky, delicous restaurants. It is one block from the beach and 2 blocks from Golden Gate park. The N Judah line is right outside the motel and will take you to the downtown area. Parking is free which is unusual for SF. For the money, it can't be beat. Don't expect fancy, just roomy and clean.
