A good value for money. Room was spacious and clean, everyday housekeeping and new towels and bed linen. Located in the Mission, close to Dolores park and Castro district. The room was well-appointed and quite comfortable. The location and the hotel is clean. The location. Nothing. This place is run down and really not as portrayed on the internet. The rooms were not bad, comparing to the horrible rest. The room was clean but with and old smell. Nothing. Nothing. - The lobby was a little stenchy. - The street is kind of weird. Just 1 block after (Valencia St.) is completely different. Street noise. No telephone in the room. For US$110 per night guest expects telephone connection in the room. I had to go to reception in the middle of the night to talk to my overseas relative. we paid for a room with a queen bed each got stuck in twin rooms with 2 beds each so in essence we paid for 2 rooms where one would have sufficed my mattress was wrapped in plastic, made it a nightmare to sleep on. I didn't got my $10 key deposit back. I was in a non smoking room where the fire alarm was removed (probably by a previous customer). Being a non smoker, unfortunately I could feel a tiny smell of smoke. Staff was not very friendly. Bath/shower was old and paint was coming off. Lots of street noise at night. The atmosphere in the area esp at night is a bit grim. The Hotel is in a very bad neighborhood. No parking. Management charged me a key deposit in spite of the fact letsbookhotel.com said I would not be charged a deposit. No trash bin in room. Staff often talked in a foreign language in front of me and left me out of the conversation. Nozzles and taps were faulty in the bathroom making it difficult to have a proper shower. No working heater in room. The hotel could use some love. All the carpetting is stained. Looks like paint spilled in places. And the bathtubs, though clean, are just worn out. There was a smell of indian food. The bathrooms are very old. This is not an hotel. It is more a backpackers dorm than anything else. The room was clean but the place was riddled with "bed bugs". My keys did not work and I was unable to unlock the front door. I did not even sleep in the bed but ontop of it. The bath was dirty en and the paint was peeling off in the bath. The "Free WiFi" was useless and kept droppimh connection. I would recommend San Francisco to other travelers but to not stay al El Capitan. The smell, the very disgusting carpet, the very unfriendly, unsensible man behind his desk... And mostly the shower. We didn't took a shower for days because we felt we woild get dirtier then not taking a shower. The neighbouhood is frightning and horrible with a lot of junks and homeless people. Even as the hotel itself: such a weird place. Don't, don't, don't!!!. As soon as you walk in the steps of a dirty and stain carpet is on your face. The only one person behind a glass window helps you to get the room key not friendly at all.the hallways carpet stain!the noise during day and nigth you cannot stand all kind of noise from the parking lot out of the hotel windows people talking all comes to the rooms! Siren from police and ambulances all day and nigt, very busy street!.Never again!. Dirty bathrooms. Dirty floor. The light in the bathroom didn't work and I told the person in charge. He didn't seem to care. Awful location. No free parking. Checkout is at 11 but I checked out way earlier just to get out of that place. every thing. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I made my reservations online only to get there and the front desk person who can barely speak English tried to charge me double of the reservation price...the other couple with us paid three times as much...the front desk clerk told us the were sold out only to find out they had over 25 rooms available...He was price goughing...I Would never stay or recommend this sleazy hole in the wall to anybody.
