The location - it's close proximity to a lot of historical sites being first timers in Philly we were not disappointed. The hotel itself is already a historical site, they can add more options for the breakfast. It's also near the Greyhound bus station which is accessible. A souvenir shop is nearby which is an added bonus as well. Location is fantastic. Located right in the heart of the Independence district not far from many famous historical landmarks in Philly. Great pubs, restaurants nearby and a very safe area of Philly. The hotel has kept its historic charm but with nice modern amenities such as flat screen t/v's and a decent hot breakfast.
all reviews » Friendly professional staff. I always felt welcomed and respected. Nice community atmosphere at breakfast and there were complimentary coffee/tea and cookies between 16:00 - 18:00. Great location, three blocks from the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall etc. Very comfortable bed and pillows and a nice spacious bath. A great hotel. Beautiful building and great rooms. Very comfy and clean. The rooms have a period feel but got a nice fresh look to them. Perfect location right next to the Independence Hall, Liberty Bell etc. Close to the waterfront as well. Really liked the room and the breakfast was great as well. The staff were incredibly warm and kind. The free breakfast was awesome -- with eggs, sausage, a waffle station, cereals, yogurts, and breads. I mean, really, it was fantastic. The location can't be beat, too. Tons of restaurants everywhere, and walking distance to Independence Hall. Perfect location - in the heart of the Old City, very calm and nice area. 2 minutes to the subway station. I like the room but when I booked my room and checked in the front desk at first said I would be on the 3rd floor. Then at the last minute she said I would be on the first floor. My window had a piece of ply wood covering it from the outside which I thought was very odd. I'm planning another trip to Philadelphia in the fall of this year but I don't think I will stay at this hotel, considering it cost me $222.00, with a wonderful view of ply wood. My room had a coffee maker but no kettle for tea but I just bought a cheap one in a local supermarket. I chose this hotel when there were few options due to the Philadelphia Marathon that week. It was slightly more expensive than I planned on spending but for my next visit to Philadelphia I will happily choose this hotel again. I recommend to others. The room was a bit small. There were 3 of us staying in a room with 2 double-beds, and the size of the room should have been for one bed. But really, no complaints other than that, and I would gladly stay there again. Heating system is a little bit confusing - it takes some time to learn how to use it properly. Nothing. Not much. the slow elevator and no ventilation in the bathroom. Window facing blind wall. Couldn't stay longer. The room was a bit on the small side, but since we mostly just slept there, that was ok. Also, there was no one at the door to help with the bags. Early before noon person was not informative. Separate parking with no parking pass or help with luggage. Air conditioner noise. decoration of rooms breakfast globally. no king beds. They would not accept or best western rewards points because we booked with booking. Com We did not know this to be an issue using your service. Disappointing The Tv in the Room was in an a dresser that could not face the bed therefore it could not be used. A relocation would be appropriate. None. Room was small. Would not want to stay too long. didnt like that the hotel didnt have a frig or microwave in room and that the rooms were quite small. The bed wasn't queen size as they say and the hotel looks a bit old. Pillows too soft. Breakfast raising bean stale. Poor selection of high fiber breads. price ($265 with the tax)...could have stayed in a very modern and more spacious room for less money and probably a much better view of some sort... chose for a feel for history based on when built but didnt get much of a historic feel...the lobby itself not very impressive in that regard...sorry. Breakfast is monotonous, no vegetables at all. Rooms are small. After all the price is too high for what you get. old carpets, uncomfortable bed, bed pillows, very bad breakfast. small room .
