I like the style, frankly the ' class ' that The Carlyle and that the staff exude. I stayed many times at The Carlyle in the 1980's early 90s, indeed had my wedding there in 1998. I haven't been at all since for no negative reason but simply professionally I no longer visit NY, but expect to privately will do periodically going fwd. I liked it as ... what people say » much as I ever did with one minor caveat that I mention in the ' did not like ' box across. -
The general and unspoiled traditional ambience.

This was a perfect spot for us. We wanted to be close to the Thanksgiving day parade from which we flew in from Boston to see. Our hotel wasn't in the mob of millions of people but located just behind the crowd so all we needed to do was go back to the hotel to use the amenities. The best surprise was the excellent food as the adjacent restaraunt ... what people say » which gave us 20% off ours meals because we stayed - I pre notified the hotel that it was my husbands birthday and so we were given a free room upgrade. Friendleness of staff. The conceierge (Gerry) was particularly helpfull with our restaurant and helicopter flight bookings. From the moment we checked in until we departed we were treated like gold. I got this room at an excellent price yet the staff and our concierge went above and beyond their duties with little extras like cupcakes and bubbly for my boyfriends 30 th which we spent in NYC.

I cannot say enough about the staff at Eventi. Even after we arrived (pretty cranky) just before 2 am, they were warm, helpful (room service? OF COURSE!), thoughtful (What brought you to NYC? A birthday- well, then, let's send you a gift of champagne!), knowledgeable (great restaurant recommendations, even for foodies!),and attentive. Little things like their daily wine hour (generous, comfortable, paired with cheese, lively- I think EVERYONE in the hotel was there) were done exceptionally we

Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was tasty and served at times stated.
Room condition was clean and spotless, same as en suite bathroom.

Staff was great. Our room smelled like someone smoked, this was handled well by staff, we were given another room next day. Best were Dan and Henry (I hope I'm right about the name). Dan is the soul of the hotel, friendly and helpful. Don't know about remaining staff.
