This hotel was awesome!!! Four forty-somethings met for our annual 'girls weekend' and were unsure about the hotel, since we booked online. We had an apartment reserved that fell through at the last minute and in a panic we found the Intercontinental online and we were so happy. We could not believe how clean and beautiful this hotel was the conceirge and doormen were wonderfully helpful. Great restaurant recommendations, etc. We will definitely stay again. The Holiday Inn is not spectacular but worth the money. I had Room 301, the biggest one on the floor. Very comfortable bed, enough space for your stuff and very clean. Really comfortable room and nicely presented too. A great range of options including TV (free channels plus paid options like HBO), a gym and luggage service. Staff were both friendly and helpful. Although not central Manhattan, the hotel is right next to the Essex St subway with not only rapid access into the centre, but also the J line to Jamaica station for the AirTrain to JFK.

Great Sushi Bar in lobby (wish they had room delivery, though), convenient location, very helpful concierge, business center accessible at all hours via room key, very comfy bed, quiet (could hardly hear any street noise), housekeeping was very good about coming back to clean my room later in the afternoon even though I'd had the "do not disturb" s... what people say » ign up when they were doing my floor. - The hotel exceeded my expectations. While there is work being done to improve the exterior, this is only a minor inconvenience. The staff, contrary to some of the reviews, were extremely pleasant and helpful and the quality of the finishings of the hotel very pleasing. I had requested a small single room but was given a standard room on the 19th floor which very tastefully furnished.

We had an amazing stay in nyc and it had a lot to do with our stay at
The Standard. The staff was so service minded and helpful 24/7! I
asked for a room on a high floor and we ended up with the most amazing

restaurant was under construction the experience the hotel as a whole
was very satisfying. It did not bother us at all. I will recommend this

The staff is extremely polite, professional, helpful and friendly. They remember you by name.
The rooms are very comfortable for their size, very modern and clean.
The hotel's ambience, while trendy and modern, remains unpretentious and warm - great choice of music. The small size of the overall hotel (55 rooms) allows them to take good care of their guests.
