I love this little Inn. It is by far the least expensive place to stay in Chelsea/Flatiron. It is not fancy by any means but it is quiet and the location is great. The location and the courteous staff! Very comfortable and quiet and clean and you can get the sense of actually living there when you stay in this wonderful historic building. I will always book at the Chelsea Inn whenever I travel to NYC. The location is central to Union Square Station, and only one block over from 5th Avenue. From here, it's easy to get to anywhere in this beautiful City!

Better than the Belvedere! I visit NY all the time and usually stay in 4 star hotels, sometimes 5. I was a little worried about the Gem, but decided I should try it out. Best decision I made. Staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us any information we wanted. They also organised taxis - at a rate negotiated by the hotel which was cheaper than the regular taxi rate and stored our luggage (checkout time is the usual 12.00) and we weren't leaving New York until the evening. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious by New York standards and were very clean and modern. The hotel is ideally situated - near to 5th Avenue, Times Square and Central Park but not in a noisy area. The hotel is on walking distance of Times Square and offers a nice breakfast: good variety. Throughout the day free coffee and tea is available in the lobby. The fitness is relatively small but good, with new equipment (2 tredmills, 1 cross trainer, a bike and some weights). Although our room was almost next to the elevator, it didn't bother us. There are only 6 rooms per floor, which limits the traffic.
