I liked how the staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests even though they did not have to. The room we stayed in 814 had an amazing view of midtown manhattan and was very quiet. The rooms were very nice, comfortable, and clean. There is a subway station right next door to the hotel which gives you easy access to all of NYC. I will definitely return to this hotel! If you stay here ask for room 814, it's wonderful!.
all reviews » The Holiday Inn is not spectacular but worth the money. I had Room 301, the biggest one on the floor. Very comfortable bed, enough space for your stuff and very clean. I have been many times in NYC and the Lower East Side has become a hot spot, therefore the location of the Hotel is also good. Subway is only 2 blocks away. Very friendly staff and the restaurant in the basement is serving an outstanding omelet :-). Really comfortable room and nicely presented too. A great range of options including TV (free channels plus paid options like HBO), a gym and luggage service. Staff were both friendly and helpful. Although not central Manhattan, the hotel is right next to the Essex St subway with not only rapid access into the centre, but also the J line to Jamaica station for the AirTrain to JFK. The staff was very attentive and courteous, notedly the guys on the lower level bar/diner, which has a quite good cuisine for quick bites and american food. I would also like to mention that everything is perfectly clean and tidy. And, at last but no least, the location could not be better. Staff was helpful and very friendly ! Location was excellent .. Very close to the JMZ subway that takes you right to Times Square . Walking distance to little Italy and Canal street . We spent a few days in NYC with a friend and it was the PERFECT location. Also, the service is impeccable and they were so helpful. I will always stay there from now on when I visit NYC. I advocate every traveler demands for this free service , and not to stay at hotels that still charge outrageous internet fees, we should be able to connect globally anytime anywhere with our loved ones or in distress. The receptionists and the staff were very helpful. Richard helped us to find a cab, and loaded our 6 pieces of luggage. Nothing. The extras such as food were a little pricey considering the cost of the room - but I'd like me you can live without room service it's hardly a problem. The only thing I missed is a minibar in the room, but I am quite sure it is common in American hotels in the same category. Rooms were small !!. Room was just a bit on the small side but not enough to deter us from staying again. Asked for a King bed and even though they said it was, it was a small King. I missed a tea facility (only a coffee maker which smells available). Breakfast poor, in a helly dark and smudged bar, a bit disgusting. As a person allergic to milk I had nothing to eat there (and didn´ go there even though the breakfast was included). There was nothing we didn't like! Having stayed in the area before, we knew what to expect, so it was a little noisy, but we've stayed in noisier places in the area. The shower had no water block so the bathroom would become a giant swimming pool after each time we showered, not a big deal after all ! The gym was not as great as expected but they are still some machines !. Nothing. Rooms are a little smaller than the average hotel room, but I'm a native New Yorker, so i'm used to it. Not one thing!. Nothing. A/C was a little noisy. The water pools on floorvof room 404. The room was really small, but I guess that is NY for you. Area is not great. Rooms are small. Still good value. Nothing really. I paid for what I got, maybe got a bit more.Ah! Girls from housekeeping were not that well trained or efficient. But no big thing. Location (but that s manageable). Area was not attractive. The only thing I did not like - and this is related to my low comfort rating is the air condition/heating. It is located under the window. There is no option to regulate the strength of the fan. When it switches on in the nigh there is no way not to wake up and there is no alternative way to keep the temperature level in the winter. Breakfast is terrible. The room is very very small. We are tiny Chinese people, but between the bed and the counter table is only about 18". I only weigh 100lb, and I still have to move sideway to walk through it. I can't image it for a big foreigner. The cost was $230 per night, and I think it's a joke, totally overpriced. It's not really the best location to all the tourists sites. We only stayed there the first night and the last night during our 10 days in New York. We moved to upper west Mahattan.
