I stayed on the Pontchartrain during early December 2013. My room was nicer than what I expected. Various internet reviews of the hotel were discouraging; however, I found my room to be (for the $$) large, recently updated, clean, and outfitted with a comfortable bed, sitting room furniture, fridge, mircowave, and a large flat screen tv in the sitting area. Should I visit the Garden District of nola again, I will choose this hotel. Btw, the hotel staff are very charming and helpful!.

Very friendly and helpful stuff Hotel itself is very historical and interior will take you at least a century back. I could recommend it for special events as well if you are looking for a charming atmosphere. The hotel was full of character, loads of history as famous people lived there in suites. Location ideal as tram stop outside and great restaurant very close by. Staff were courteous, helpful and very friendly. Couldn't ask for any more! Rooms so spacious too. Beautiful building with real charm and character. The staff were all warm, knowledgable and genuine. Rooms were fantastic. Breakfast a la carte was really good and very reasonably priced. Tramcar into the French Quarter from right outside the hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. King suite was clean and spacious. Great location. Easy walk thru the garden district. Cought the trolley in front to the French Quarter and back. Nice restaurants in walking distance. The hotel was amazing!!! So much more that I had hoped for! The Pontchartrain is a better hotel, for the price, than the French Quarter hotels, but it is in the Garden District. Nonetheless, the St. Charles Street car stops right outside, so getting to the French Quarter is not difficult. There was a mistake in hotel's booking system about the number of nights we are staying but was quickly resolved after the call from the reception. Had to leave!!!!. Breakfast buffet was very limited. Couldn't charge the bar bill to my room. Limited evening offering in the hotel itself. The weather was a bit rainy. toilet had flushing problems even though they fixed it the first time it was unable to flush. the shower was little, I wish it had a tub. breakfast was skimpy. Could have had a little more variety. LongerDidn't Like That I Couldn't Stay Longer. Bed was small. Seemed a little high priced due to the drive from bourbon. self service breakfast was exactly that with no assistance to find cups, cutlery, milk, serviettes. The bed was too small. No bathtub, just shower. Wish there was a shower curtain in the penthouse master bath. Too much walking in the French Quarter. May be newly renovated, but still feels aged. Slight musky smell. They tried to over charge me when I first got there. My key didn't work to my room door for some reason. Then they over charged me for parking. Plus its 20 a day. I had to wait almost an hour and a half just to check out.I don't plan on staying there again. pictures on the internet is not what we had when we got there, most definitely was not as nice as pictures show. Price,but I would stay again, if able book for same price. It was too expensive and the rooms were horrifically ugly. Customer service was awful!.
