The hotel is in a perfect location with tastefully decorated rooms. The staff are über friendly and will help you with anything. It doesn't matter that there's no elevator as the staff help you with your bags without even asking them to. I will definitely stay here again. Geat location, Royal Street is a classy place, with small art galleries, antique shops and restaurants. One block from Bourbon St. but the hotel is very quiet with friendly staff and great rooms. you are a few steps away from Jackson Square and the River.
all reviews » Had a great stay at the Hotel Royal. As a first time visitor to New Orleans, this hotel was in the perfect location. The staff were very friendly, and the rooms were quaint and simple. Beautiful courtyard out back - would definitely return!. Great location and super friendly staff and not too expensive. Staff was constantly trying to help us with suggestions on where to go, if we needed to have something arranged for transportation, etc, couldn't be any better. The staff was by far the best hotel staff I've dealt with. The bell man take their jobs to another level, very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was great, but even if it wasn't the staff would of made up for it. Location, in French Quarter, not far from the sites and Bourbon street, quiet at least during time I stayed, clean as a whistle, professional staff. I'd recommend the hotel to the younger, single sort.but see 5. The Hotel was architecturally traditional and the hard wood floors, brick walls and tall and skinny double French doors were charming. The location was perfect. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. The balcony was one of our favorite things about the trip. Sat out there and watched people go by. The hotel is a beautiful old building with lots of character, so don't be surprised if you can hear someone walking in the room next to you. I can honestly say there is nothing bad I can say about hotel royal or it's staff. $150.00 deposit. Apparently the hotel anticipates hosting ruffians or rockers and that makes me a little nervous--I come as professional and avid shopper. To be fair, maybe that is what all hotels in the French Quarters have to do. Scary. Third floor sucked. I inquired about moving down a floor and they were to get back to but never did. Started out with the superior room on the 4th floor. Way too many steps to have to deal with. Stayed one night and switched to balcony room which was the bomb!. Parking Lot. The hotel has a small one, so if you are lucky you can get a spot there, but it costs u$ 25,00 per day. No elevator, which is only an issue if you have large bags. The bathroom and specially the shower box is very small! There's no room, not even for a toothbrush, as there's no counter, just the sink. The room was up four flights of stairs so may not be easily accessible for some people. That there wasn't a mini fridge in the room, or any kind of a dresser to store clothes just a closet. Parking!. Amenities were lacking...... We had a top room which was very comfortable. Lots of stairs to climb as it is an original building, so no lift. But we were informed of this before booking. Website said pillowtop mattress and it was not. Lots, lots of taxes and fees. Wish the website included them. You know what they are. We booked at $561 for 3 nights, actual was $760, big difference! Parking was added too. IPod station did not work (worn out). Very small rooms especially the bathroom. Stairs were difficult for me. My fiance enjoyed them. The bathroom was not cleaned when we checked in. After many times of asking for our bathroom to be cleaned and couple of visits by the maid service it was still not cleaned properly. It was quite disgusting to see hair and footmarks all over the place. We decided to clean it ourselves. Bfast wasnt too good even though I paid extra for it. There was a TV show filming in the courtyard and we were not informed. It was very annoying for two young adults just trying to explore and get drunk on bourbon street and stumble to our room. One night, a band of cockroaches ran across the hall. Across from elementary school, the kids got loud sometimes. We were in a balcony suite and the roof was slanted so it freaked me out to stand on it. If we go again I would get a regular room and not spring for the balcony. All the rooms were just as beautiful. Had to travel a maze of stairs and landing to get to the room in the attic of the building. The air conditioning system could not get the room cooler than 75 degrees at 10:00 pm. Nothing!. Parking not readily available and had to park several blocks away. One morning there was no hot water. It was quite sad to take a cold morning shower in December!. First room we were given[R18] was so small it was laughable. We were told the facility was an old bakery & I swear r18 was one of the ovens! When the toilet wouldn't flush & almost over flowed we were upgraded right away to room #1 on the courtyard for the same price. Lucky for us we were only in r18 about an hour -the staff was most helpful & took care of the situation in a very professional manner. Parking is a bit of a problem but can solve. Wifi in s. nothing. The first room we stayed had a lot of noise with the air conditioning system, we did not rest well. We requested to be moved, it was better the 2nd night. Small room, tinybathroom, a/c not functioning [properly and many steps to get to room. The all-night noise from loud, partying guests wasn't controlled by the staff. No Elevator and the steps and stairwells were dimly lighted. No accessibility of an ATM. The bathroom! The shower was so small I barely fit, and the sink was smaller than a birdbath! I also didn't like that we were on the 3rd floor with no elevator. The stairs were steep and difficult to travel. The couryard balcony was slanted!. Fountain noise. The loud air conditioning that went on and off every few minutes and required us to use ear plugs to sleep. Size of the room, though cheap, still VERY small. A little noisy but not too bad. Walls were paper thin. People next door sounded like they were in the room with us when talking at a normal tone. No operational elevator so had to go up and down 3 flights of stairs each time we left the room. room size: too small.
