As a family of 5 with three children under 10 it's hard to find a room to accommodate. We stayed in a deluxe queen with an extra bed. he extra bed meant there was no floor space but it was only for one night. It was a bit rough around the edges but perfectly clean and quiet. Morro bay itself was lovely and the Galley restaurant excellent. The Sandpiper Inn is a small, quiet and clean motel. It has been (mostly) updated and has a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in each room. The owner/staff was very friendly and the whole place has a pleasant atmosphere. It would normally be a 3 star for me but the cleanliness, thickness of towels and friendliness took it up a notch.
all reviews » Our room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable. Sink outside the shower/toilet area. Large room. It is well-kept for an older property. We had a view of the famous Morro Rock from our room. The hotel is only a few blocks from the waterfront. It is a good choice for the price. Value for the price was extremely good in my opinion. The room was very small but if you are just sleeping there it will be fine. Tasteful decor looked fairly new. The room was very, very clean. Staff spoke little English but were very friendly. Fast check in. The value (price) was good. We were here in October 2013. It is a short walk to the Embarcadero Street, shops and Main Street. The room had a king size bed and a great view of Morro Rock. Bed was comfortable and a clean room. Staff was friendly. We had a late arrival but the keys were all organised for us (cannot say how) - the owner is my hero :) Great location with a value/price ratio unbeaten in whole West Coast. This is an old-school motel - L-shaped with our room facing the parking lot - but we did have the view of the Morro Rock. Close to the waterfront, but at the opposite end of town from the beach. Beds/pillows not the most comfortable ever, but still worthwhile for the price. -. There was nothing that was off-putting. Not much we didn't like except the continental breakfast was kind of sparse, but it was pleasant and got us off to good start in the morning. Its a little hard to understand the Inn keep. Old tv needs updating. Parking a bit tight. The flamboyant curtains and bedspread were a little over the top...something more simple, I think, would be less overbearing in a small room. But that was the only down side. The chairs beside the table needed to be recovered but they had placed a clean cover over them. The rooms were really clean which made up for the worn furniture. A little dated decor...walls are thin...could hear noise from upstairs. Closet (in my room, anyway) was in the bathroom, as was the microwave oven! Bed was hard and lumpy. Toilet paper was the poorest quality I've ever seen!. Yucky bath mat in tub should be tossed out. Cloudy microclimate. Prices were too high for the type of motel. There was nothing we didn't like. The breakfast was very limited. The walls are sooo thiiiin.Romantics/honeymooners take note. I have nothing negative to say about the facility or my stay. Nothing. The rollaway we had for one night stayed in a V shape; it never totally opened. The constant smokers on the balcony. Wi-fi reception in room was variable. Nothing. breakfast in the reception area. Plastic cups. Continental breakfast but had orange squash instead of juice. room with no view. I booked through letsbookhotel.com, and I was surprised to find out the service and tax charges were not included in the "total price" stated on the booking. Also, the price for our dog was $25 per night--way more than other places we have stayed. the walls were a bit thin so we could clearly hear the people next door talking. Wi-fi was spotty upstairs.
