Not everyone needs Wifi -- and, wi - I very much enjoyed my stay at Casa Loma and would recommended to everyone on a thigh budget. The only thing I've missed was a kettle as there was a small little fridge in a room ans missed my morning coffees as hell! :( There is a vending machine within hotel premisses but make sure that you always have enough change or otherwise you will walk for miles to get cup of tea!   I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in mid November. I have seen people raise there eyebrows when they learn this hotel is situated in Tenderloin area (which is considered a bit shady area). I too was reluctant to stay there but post my stay I experienced that it was not that badly located. Means this hotel on eddy street which is very near to Van... what people say » Ness road (Just a block away). So when we walk out the hotel just go toward van ness street, immediately you are out of tenderloin. The bus stop is j - Staff is very friendly, location of the hotel is very good, just 15 minute- walk to market street, also if you have car, car park is very good and also there is a door between the car park and the rooms for the security(it's openned by the reception). The area is not secure especially at night but there are two routes which you can reach at the hotel, one is more secure.(the lady in the reception has explained us more secure road).   There is no negative thing i would mention. The room was new and clean. Breakfest ok. Really good position of the hotel is just perfect (about 10min to the Town Hall)! The park place is small but all the guests found a place while we were there. And finally yes, there are some homeless people arround the hotel, but we didn´t feel uncomfortable or... what people say » unsafety at all. We would recommend this hotel mainly for young people and travellers. - Close to our destination - walking distance. The staff was very helpful. Gave us walking instructions to our intended destination. Also pointed out alternate transportation solutions and approximate costs.

  It was way better than I had expected. The room was huge as was the king bed. It was quite too and easy to find our way into the city. - Very nice location, clean room, very helpful staff
