Good location. Free complementary breakfast was small but good, not having to worry about going out for breakfast every morning. Staff were friendly and helpful. good value for money. Nothing fancy but its all we needed as we spent most of our days outside doing activities.

Very hard to get a good nights sleep. Birds kept chirping throughout the night.

The rooms were basic but quite clean & adequate. The room had a small refrigerator that was very much appreciated. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

The AC was a bit noisy but still OK to sleep by.

Location is close to the town of Hilo

Great breakfast with lots of fresh fruit - serve yourself. Close to airport & convenient to everything in Hilo. Room was comfortable & clean. Staff was friendly and view from room was beautiful - nice garden & ocean view It is an older place - not modern but good value for the price

The bar was fun and the entertainment was great there was an open microphone night very enjoyable Free wifi Breakfast light but very good The staff were excellent very pleasant very helpful and obliging

The place was not really run down just built a long time ago So weathered is the word.

Customer service personel and room service were excellent, friendly.

Beds' mattress were quite uncomfortable.. hard for us (ages over 60).. Air conditioner were blowing in our faces at night,had to lower the fans. Suggests: AC should be placed at a higher location.

It was a great value. My group really enjoyed the malasada french toast at the resturant for breakfast!

Seeing dead bugs smashed on the floor (one girl from the group was a little freaked out.)

Like this Hotel for what it is - a user friendly and with all the basics. Comfortable and clean spacious room. All we need with out paying the earth for it. Also wifi in the room functioned well. Staff were great. Thanks.

Uncle Billy's has character! Lovely central garden and great view of it and the bay from the breakfast area. I love the papayas at breakfast time. Very pretty lounge. The free hibiscus blossoms are a nice touch. Coconut Willy's was our beer hangout. I really enjoyed the slack key guitar playing by Ben Kaili and the malasadas made by Baker Tom. Enjoyed sitting on my lanai. Liked being woken by birds around 5:30 A.M. And I soon learned not to mind the coquis at night. And I love Banyan Drive.

Only ittle things: no towel hook on bathroom door. Fridge froze my food solid. Housekeeping took old towels and forgot to put new ones one day. Not enough parking, but it was easy enough to find parking nearby.

It was close to everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast included. We had a kitchenette for both of our stays. While not modern, it had everything we needed for our stay at an excellent price.

No elevator to rooms that were a bit of a hike from the lobby.

Most staff were friendly but one surly lady gave me a really hard time when I wanted to store my bags - checkout was at 12 and my flight was at 5. Eventually she agreed but acted like she was doing me a huge favor and her request that I keep my bags with me for five hours was reasonable

The gardens around/in this hotel are beautiful and the sights and sounds from our balcony were lovely. We selected Hilo and this hotel for a portion of our stay for easier access to Volcano National Park. We also liked the included breakfast which is done well.

Hilo is not a "fancy" place and this is not a fancy hotel. Although kept up with fresh paint and cleaning, it seems to have needed a full refurbishment of the interior and exterior for some decades, although this would affect price and viability. There is internet access but it is very slow and irregular. The walls are thin, particularly those with doors to adjoining rooms and you share in the activities of your neighbors.

I did not like the fact that after we checked out at 12 I could not use the pool until four and there was no where to leave my luggage . As my husband was on a day trip I had to hang out at the shopping centre instead of relaxing at the pool till we caught our plane. They would not flex in the slightest.

It is old and loud. (the windows are slanted windows so they don't shut tight and the local birds and frogs make some noise!)

The hotel is in a convenient location and it is very cost effective. The free breakfast is good too.

The hotel is not clean.The carpet of the floor is so dirty. The back door could not be locked in the first room we were in. When we asked the hotel staff to check, they were not friendly.

There was no parking I had to park down the road and walk in the rain with my 7 month old baby our room had cockaroaches upon checking out I let your front desk clerk know and be just said oh ok I don't think he made a note we were in room 133 there was a lot of baby roaches

The bathroom was not cleaned well. The tub enclosure was covered in black mold. Cockroaches. The bed and pillows were lumpy. Wifi did not work. We couldn't wait to get out of there.

Swamp cooler old, small tile floors in bathroom dirty in grout area, dead koi in pond, koi's alive could hardly move in water, outside tables sticky, artificial noise outside to sound like frogs and critters kept me awake, etc.

roof over my head

price, smelly room, poor quality room, poor customer service a standard room is a smoking room. Uncle Billy's charges extra for a non smoking room. Stayed in Kona, room smelled awefull and was told that is a 'standard room'....pay more for non smoking room.

Not clean looking. Old, fridge made noise all the time, ac did not put out cold air. Sloppy cleaning. Breakfast was junk, only 4 items, toaster broke down.NO Cereal for Children. Worst of all was the elevator broken, had to walk up 2 flights of stairs.
