My wife and I wanted a relaxing stay at a hotel that has a great reputation not only for comfort but price as well. We chose the Microtel and booked a jacuzzi tub suite. We were not disappointed. As in earlier reviews, the room was decorated in pleasing colors and decor. The staff was very helpful to make our stay pleasant. Far exceeded my expectations. Traveling with two teenage boys, so they get their own room. The beauty is the entire cost of two adjoining rooms was less than the typical Marriot Coutyard single-room rate. This was an eye-opening experience, and we will be looking for Microtels now in our future travels!.
all reviews » I liked the cleanliness of the room. The room and the bed sheets smelled clean and they looked like the sheets and pillow covers were changed/washed clean. The carpet appeared to have been clean also. Over all the room was clean and the bed and the pillows were comfortable :). The staff was great!They printed directions to a point of interest and were very helpful. The facility was very clean, fresh baked cookies were served every evening, and it was close to the expressway!. I liked the location right off the interstate. In this case when the heater kicked on, it seemed that a cover or something was vibrating causing an annoying vibrating sound while one was trying to sleep. Other wise on the scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being good, I give you guys a 9 based on both of two stays at this location. I have no complaints!. It was a bit farther from jmu than I would like, but not so far that it was troublesome. Could have used a microwave in the room. Breakfast left something to be desired - lack or restaurant or cafe/lounge/bar disappointing. Just vending machines doesn't cut it. However since the purpose of this trip was to spend time with my daughter it did not make a huge impact. Not as close to the center of town as we thought. The restaurant we wanted to eat at was a 5 mile drive away. Breakfast area crowded with not enough room to get food without crowding each other, and not enough tables and chairs. After 11:00 pm I had to go next door to the Ramada to check in and get my key card. Not really a big inconvenience. It was very hard to find anything healthy for breakfast. Can't think of anything I didn't like. Nothing. Electric vehicle charging station way too expensive, $0.49/kWh equates to nearly $7 per gallon gas charging my volt from empty to full. I prepaid this room a week prior, yet a hold for the same amount is still on on my card 3 days later. I was there for JMU's graduation, room prices spiked for the weekend. There was nothing I did not like about the hotel. Only plastic tableware in the breakfast room. Absolutely no complaints. Perfect stay. Breakfast OK for the room rate but could be better. All pastries and rolls/bagels were a little stale. Prices were jacked up due to graduation weekend at JMU. a little niosy in halls. Calling it a free breakfast was only partially correct. It was free but indelible food made it worthless. The bed was not super comfortable, but it worked for the one night stay. The room was clean but there were scuffs on the wall etc. The walls were a little thin, and we could hear kids running around. All the traffic noise and the water pressure in shower was not good. Staff also wouldn't give discount for aaa after I checked in when asked. Bed too soft (hurt our backs), no microwave or coffee pot in room. Air conditioning not consistent in room. Wifi didn't work. Rooms could have been a little bigger. Close to the interstate and I am not used to a lot of traffic noise. I had some problems sleeping because of traffic noise. Breakfast was a little sparse in terms of variety of food items. The Breakfast was terrible. The Breakfast nook was cramped and crowded. No where to sit. Two big coffee pots,both EMPTY. All was good. nothing.
