all reviews » After reading very mixed reviews I was a bit dubious about this place but it is well worth a stay. The location is really good, close to Subway, Frys and the downtown area. The staff were fantastic and we really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, a great choice, cereals, eggs, toast waffles and the added surprise of a social hour where eveyone staying got two free drinks and some snacks. The shower was great after a windy day in the Canyon for washing all the dust off. Highly recommended!. I loved the bed, it was one of the most comfortable I've ever had in a hotel. Also, one of the pillows was so perfect for my neck, i wanted to buy it! Staff was very friendly. Location was great for where we were visiting in Flagstaff. We liked that they had a cook to make our breakfast waffles as part of the complimentary breakfast. Also, the room was quiet at night, unlike other Flagstaff hotels I have stayed at as I'm a light sleeper. Did not realize the room was going to be that big!! With 2 kids the extra space came in handy! Each one had their own tv!! Major plus. The entire staff was excellent, especially Adrian. He was the waffle maker in the morning!! Great location and views!!! This may sound crazy, but having the train so close my son loved watching them go by!. Variety of room types, JP's lounge offering breakfast and social hour, internet services, elevation, easy access to town and highway, friendly staff. Despite some shortcomings (with rooms aesthetically), I've stayed many times at this hotel, and will probably continue to do so because plusses outweigh minuses. we enjoy going to this motel because it gives us a place to go to get out of the heat of the desert, and play in the mountains.We have enjoyed going here several times in the last few years.We have gotten to know Adrian at the kitchen and he is the best he is always helpful and a joy to talk to.. We were given an upgrade to a room with the spa tub. Loved it. When we had a problem with the toilet, they came up right away and when he could not get it flowing good, he put us up in another room that was larger. Any time we are in the area, we will be staying there. The gentleman who handles all the guests in the breadfast room was extraordinary. He bussed tables, made waffles and delivered them to the guests, helped guests with extra requests and lots more..........all the time friendly, politely and with a smile. He was awesome. Everything! The staff when we first checked in were very helpful and the rooms were fabulous with free Wi-Fi and spotlessly clean. If we are ever in the USA in this area again, we would make an effort to stay here even if it meant travelling a bit more to reach it. a hot breakfast was included which is always a bonus but this motel has a complimentary happy hour with two free beers in the evening. Perfect after a day exploring! the rooms were large and well equipped and the beds very comfy. good all round travellers motel. I really like this hotel and have stayed there several times --- I try other hotels and always end up back at this one. - The staff is great - The hotel is one of the more accomodating with a noon check-out and 1:00 late check-out as long as you let them know. The staff were wonderful. Loved the amenities like the comb I forgot. The breakfast was so good as it was included in the price of the night's stay. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Had a relaxing time. Loved the coffee time at 4:00 pm. The pool was small but clean and popular with guests. Also buffet breakfast was very good especially the guy cooking the waffles they also have a social hour giving away a couple of drinks which seemed good although we went to dinner at that time. Very comfortable 2 nites in the King suite. Staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the happy hour over at PJ's and free breakfast was served there as well. Hotel had free internet. Close to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Nice town. This place did not disappoint and really appreciated the two beds being in seperate rooms. It was comfortable and clean and the breakfast area and pool area were above average. Very good value for money. Highly recommend it. The friendliness of all staff. The complimentary BBQwas a pleasant surprise and Adrian making special waffles for complimentary breakfast! We will be back again. This was our second stay while traveling across country!. We liked that is was affordable but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The person that worked at PJ's restaurant was very efficient, helpful and a great cook. The made from scratch waffles were great. Everything, it was very comfortable. They day we arrived they had a happy hour where they provided drinks and nibbles for all the guests for an hour and a half. We met other guests at this which was very nice. Excellent staff, good location for touring, breakfast great, such good value for money. We were upgraded to suite all for $65 per night plus they had happy hour every night, drinks free. We will stay here again on our next trip to Flagstaff. The staff was great. Friendly and helpful I live just out side flagstaff and because of the snow storm the road was going to be closed. I wanted someplace close to work, since I had to work the next morning. A great option for the money. When you check in we were offered a room with two rooms for such de money. Breakfast is good, there are scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, cereal, oatmeal. Had a nice stay here, my room was upgraded to a presidential suite free of charge. We had two rooms with 2 beds, 2 TV's, a desk, comfortable chair, 2 bathrooms. We could each watch t.v. in separate rooms. I love the size of the rooms. The staff in the mornings at the cafe were extremely helpful and nice. This was our 2nd time staying here and we love it. Great prices. The faults: - Currently under new ownership, and in the process of remodel. The older rooms are shabby, and lack basic amenities such as sufficient power outlets and functioning AC. - The stairs to the second floor are a bit unwieldy, so those with disabilities should request a first floor room. - The train does run by not far from the property; however, if you're in the rear part of the hotel, you do not hear it. Got confused about turning on the heat when we came in at night, but the hotel clerk was quick to advise us how, just from the thermostat on the wall rather than on the heater, so it was quick and easy. Furnishings out dated!. Rooms are dated, worn and somewhat neglected, bordering on dingy. Some wall colors are near-ugly, as if they were from paints purchased in the marked-down "mis-tints" section of the Home Depot (or wherever) paint department. Single-pane windows don't do much to mitigate outside noise, e.g. noisier vehicular traffic in parking lot and sometimes the nearby train (though not so much an issue for us since trains apparently now don't blow horns much in town anymore). we did notice that some of the furniture and the rooms were getting run down a little. The style of the toilet is one that would be very easy to plug up. It has a very low water level and a long flat front area that is shallow and the water does not sit there at all. Not all of the bathrooms have these. The sheets on the bed were not the cleanest I've seen. They may have been washed, but they has stains on them and needed to be replaced. There needs to be more plugs in the rooms!!! In this day and age of needing to charge laptops and tablets and phones --- next time I am bringing a power strip. :). The heater was quite noisy when it came on. The doors were very unattractive. Occasional noise train but to tired to notice really. The bathroom fan runs when the light is turned on and was the noisiest fan I have ever heard. The TV was old and the colour needing serious adjusting, everything was green tinted. Staff tried to fix but no luck. Trains run very close to hotel and can disrupt sleep. The only thing we didn't like was that it was farther from downtown then we would have liked. The only problem was that they called themselves flagstaff aspen inn on the booking slip, but the sign over motel was different thus we had trouble finding it as we were looking for the wrong name. Had a kitchen but had no utensils, plates, glasses, saucepans at all!. Located right across the street from the railroad tracks. Very noisy as rooms are not soundproofed. Furnishings are dated. There is nothing bad to say. They were busy so I didnt get to talk to anyone when I made my reservation, I did it on line and ended up with a 2 bedroom suite just for me, it wasnt necessary but I understand they were busy because of the storm. I have some trouble with wi-fi access. Phone lost signal every 5 minutes. Only the coffee - it was very weak. There seemed to be a "clunking or knocking" in the wall from somewhere like the wind was blowing something and it made it hard to get to sleep. The refrigerator didn't work. and the bathroom door hung up on the vanity sink. Only being able to stay one night. But we'll be back. Heavy railway traffic during night time.. Minor things like burned out lightbulb and slow drain in the shower. Your coffee and tea for customers was one of the worst I've seen. Your coffee was stale (sitting there for a while) and no liquid creamers for the hot drinks. I am a coffee drinker and was very disappointed with this and when I told the morning staff, all I got was "it's what they send us". No Continental Breakfast (available at numerous other hotels with better room rates). Bad Internet connection. Some furniture tired Exterior walk tired Hard to get clear info online Online didn't say small rooms. Some railroad noise, but not too bad. Bedside TV guide advertised HBO, but I could never get it. Trains rumbling though the town at night - can't alter this though. It is older and could use a bit more of an update. The bathrooms could use a good remodel. You could not close the bathroom doors all the way. No chairs outside the rooms. Hated the pillows on the bed!! They were barely big enough for your head and one was flat as a pancake and the other extremely lumpy (2 measly pillows on a King bed). Called front desk to see if we could get others but were told they didn't have any extra. Not a comfortable night sleeping. If you stay here...bring your own pillow!! Also, bring earplugs since the train tracks are right across the street and the trains run constantly it seems. There were only styrofoam and plastic plates and cutlery in the breakfast area, not very environmentally responsible. Also there were no signs on the bins in the rooms saying that they recycle; I hope they do. The hotel charged my card before I even got there even though I was supposed to pay at check-out. They eventually fixed it, but was difficult to be charged early as I had been planning to pay with cash. Created some financial stress for my kids and I on the road as we were on a very tight budget. it was dificult to find, we passed it few times, but sign so poor,we were looking for Aspen,but sign is Inn Suites,. Sort of dumpy, but it's pretty cheap. Fitted sheet would not stay tucked in if you turned over a few times. This was the second time that happened to us. Our shower handle broke and we couldn't adjust the hot water. A cold shower - Burr!. Not close to many diners, etc.
