Food was excellent. Although the menu was limited the chef is creative and the food fresh and delicious. The rooms are comfortable although ours had small windows with no views which was a disappointment in such a beautiful location. The area is gorgeous with many early American sites to see and a beautiful lake and walks on the property itself. There is no place to sit inside in a public area and enjoy the scenery although I understand in winter the light the big fireplace on the second floor .
all reviews » Our room and bath were very large and comfortable/cozy...I was sharing with my niece. The detailing throughout the Inn was lovely and bespoke really care in maintaining its rustic design. Inn's proximity to a lake and pleasant areas for strolling made the grounds especially lovely. Food very good. Staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The setting allows for maximum use of the park. After 5pm the crowds go home. Seeing the sunrise over the lake from bed was a wonderful way to start the day. Accommodations manager resolved billing issue to my satisfaction. Doodletown hikes were our favorite. The Inn has been nicely renovated and the setting is lovely. The main dining area is also quite stunning as it possesses the original character of the lodge. Loved the little nature zoo/outdoor museum and the hiking. Location and plenty of hiking trails available. Beautiful grounds and updated, spacious rooms. I would definitely recommend Bear Mountain Inn. The setting is incredible. The hotel is reasonably nice. The room was very roomy and great for relaxing. The rooms-were roomy and clean! Lovely lodge. The room id very mice and big . Very cozy and clean rooms. The beauty of the area. The rooms were spacious and newly redone. The scenery was beautiful. Nature, décors rustique, tranquillité, lac. Small windows in our bedroom. No place to sit an read or relax for guests outside your room. There is plenty of space on the 2nd floor for the hotel to set us such an area. We suggested it. The hotel is in the process of upgrading. Breakfast though complimentary was rather minimal (and no other on site restaurant breakfast option available). The grounds are super crowded and unfortunately given to littering. Could be more food options; breakfast was minimal. Gift shop closed too early and no place to eat a full breakfast. The service was a little slow. You should not advertise breakfast. It should be "continental". We were early in the season and it appeared you were not quite ready for guests. The young woman at the desk was more interested in her computer than us- There was lots of trash in front as we entered the lodge-but once inside, very clean. Served lunch and dinner but no breakfast. The brekfest is poor. Very difficult to use the TV (the directions on the card were not correct). also, the room temperature could not be regulated. The heating system was antiquated and did not work at all inour room. An auxiliary electric heater in the bathroom worked so we kept it on all night and the room stayed comfortable. We went mid week and dining hall was closed for all meals and only lite menu was offered in the pub area. Same menu both days of our stay. I. Manque de personnel, déjeuner continental pauvre.
