Location: it's close to all the museums, restaurants, shops of the old town and the main pedestrian street called Deribasovskaya. Style: the hotel looks amazing from outside and from inside. Fully renovated to its former glory. Spa: nice swimming pool (maybe too deep, over 1,80 m), sauna, fitness space, great massages. Internet access: wireless, fast and free. The hotel and reception staff, including room maids were very very good. The quality of the hotel was also good with clean linen every day and towels etc. Breakfast choice was also good and the reception staff were very helpful including security people.

Expensive taxi service: concierge asked for a regular taxi calls instead a private car without meter with joke-high fares around the city. The restaurant staff were not so friendly and seemed to have a problem in being polite. One waiter actually asked me to make sure I gave a tip after a meal......? My friend who was Ukranian after we had a meal there asked me not stay in the hotel for any more dinners, as she felt very uncomfortable. Breakfast buffet was over-priced. Breakfast for 30 euro is too expensive. Pillow, blanket and mattress could be better quality for 5 star hotel. Waiter in the restaurant didn't want to charge amount for room and asked for cash. Food in the restaurant not delicious, there are a lot of better restaurants in the city. Only one elevator is in operation, and it was broken for a couple of hours, we had to go to the 3rd floor by feet. Too expensive breakfast, but one can easily find an alternative in restaurants near the hotel. The restaurant staff do require more training, this was my only complaint last time. They want to rush everything and seem to lack co- ordination between them. lighting is poor, VERY noisy, staff is not friendly, over priced. Breakfast was extraordinarily and unnecessarily expensive. I arrived to the hotel at 10:45 am from the airport, although it was confirmed that hotel was 50% full only, they requested from me "early check in fee" !? After some discussions, they agreed not to charge only for this stay. Pity ... The hotel was alright, but not really 5-star quality. Extras were ridiculously expensive-30€ per person for a very mediocre breakfast buffet, taxi service more than 4 times the going rate. Way over priced for a slightly run of the mill old style city centre hotel. And staff are often slow and unwilling. It feels like an imposition for them to do stuff. Reception staff lacking professional decorum.
