  We stayed in reubens court and the location is fantastic - only about five minutes from city centre, and there is a tesco express and morrisons local just up the road to buy food etc for the apartment. The facilities were great, everything was fully furnished, bed very big and comfy, all very modern and came with an instruction manual for everythi... what people say » ng. We had a bottle of prosecco left for us with two glasses! TV included sky movies and sky sports (the boyfriend was very happy about that) We didn' - We stayed in the riverside Merchant Exchange apartment and the location was brilliant, just a few minutes walk to all the shops, restaurants & tourist attractions. The views across the city and river were lovely and the apartment was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. We appreciated that parking, Wi-Fi and Sky HD were all included in the price. We were visiting York as two couples so staying together in an apartment was nicer than being separated in a hotel. The comfortable beds

  Lovely welcome from owners, they left fresh bread, milk etc for our arrival which was excellent touch, apartment spacious and modern and in brilliant location to York no more than 10 mins walk.   A great location on Bootham Terrace. Only minutes from centre of York. The apartment contains all one would require for a stay. It was large enough for four persons without getting in each others way. Elevator to the apartment was a bonus and good security.   It was close to city centre, about 15 minutes walk. Cute little room with a comfy bed. Not a lot of frills, but didn't feel like anything I needed was really lacking. Had a cozy inn kind of feel to it. The staff was very nice and let us keep our car in the car park after we checked out so we could wander the city a bit. - friendly people , good b... what people say » eer , cheap good accomadation , after reading some of negative reports was bit dubious , but we couldnt find anything wrong . the smell of the restraunt was unnoticable , the room was good , nothing falling apart as had been reported , we would definatley stop there again

  Jamal met us at the flat - very simple check in process. Having an allocated parking spot was fabulous. A bit of a walk to use the lift, but worth it with luggage. The location was fabulous - so close to restaurants, shops, and attractions. Also, close to Sainsbury. The location is second to none in York. The apartment was superb, eberything a family would need. At this time of the year the heating was efficient and most welcome without any attention to settings from my point of view.

  We were amazed! Not wanting the formality of a hotel and having stayed in luxury apartments in coastal resorts for our summer holidays we thought we would try The Lawrance. Only two words can described our feelings when we unlocked the door - absolutely fabulous! I would not hesitate to recommend this to any friends or relatives wanti - Blown away by the plush, stylish apartment. We visited York with my parents & this 2-bedroom apartment suited us much better than two separate hotel rooms, as it provided a social space (kitchen, dining table, sofas and TV) Incredibly convenient for walking to key places in York; train station, the Shambles, the Minster and, highlight of the trip for my husband, the National Rail Museum. The lovely Heather at reception is also wonderfully helpful :)

  The apartment was spacious (a king bed in the separate bedroom and two chairs that opened out to two very comfortable beds in the living room), with a huge bathroom with tub and shower, and a fully equipped kitchen. York Minster was a 5 minute walk with shopping, restaurants and pubs everywhere. - Location, near a gate to the old city and very close to shops, as the main reason for our visit was to do our Christmas shopping. Accurate, detailed instructions for finding the apartment were easy to follow. Also the small problem we had with the kitchen lighting was dealt with very promptly, effectively and courteously. The apartment was warm and cosy and suited our needs very well.

  I have a gluten allergy and when I informed the reception I was promised a gluten free breakfast i.e. sausage, bread. The next day at breakfast I asked for gluten free bread and sausage and was told there wasn't any, when I later saw the receptionist and told her she was extremely apologetic and assured me there would be at least bread for my bre... what people say » akfast the next day, when I got back into the hotel later that day the receptionist informed me something had been left in our room as a goodwill gest - Marmadukes is a fabulous hotel. We have been coming here annually since 2006 and have stayed in most of the room styles. However, this latest trip was particularly memorable as we received a free upgrade on arrival to the York Suite. It was stunning. And to think we had the whole of the suite for the same price as our original booking was a great touch. Staff at the hotel are lovely - friendly, accomodating and always on hand to offer advice or book a taxi. Location is ideal, in a leafy street

An absolute gem of an apartment - in all it's medieval wonkiness - half timbered wonky walls, uneven floors, tucked away down an alleyway behind the Trembling Madness pub - well, after all, the buildings do date from about 1650! Staff were extremely helpful and it was excellent. Would certainly recommend. We had a fantastic time and are definitely going back.
