Located just 20 minutes' walk from York Minster, The Dairy is a converted town dairy set in a restored and upgraded Victorian townhouse with many original features. It is 15 minutes' walk from the Shambles.
Each individually styled room has a TV with a DVD player, hot drink facilities, mineral water, a hairdryer and an alarm clock. You will also find toiletries in the rooms.
Every morning, guests will enjoy a traditional English breakfast with locally sourced produce, York bacon and sausages, free range eggs and York honey. A lighter option with cereals and yoghurt is also available.

My husband and I found the hotel to be very comfortable, clean and friendly.The owner and his family were very helpful.The owners were very pleasant and helpful, not only with our overnight stay, but with local information aswell. Its central location and helpfulness of the staff.Ken and his son provided a very good breakfast in a clean bright dining room. They were very accomodating, friendly and helpful. Meltons restaurant they recommended was excellent. The Melton's restaurant next door. Staff presented things to do in town, provided maps etc. bed was too hard, other than that it was tip top excelent. The shower was a bit poor. In general the decor was 'tired' and the bathroom needed a distinct 'spring clean'.No view of the City Wall as description for hotel detailed - 5 minute walk away! Room very cramped and dusty - ensuite tiny and bed too large for room - TV in wrong position - couldn't see it because of bed posts and shower had little water pressure and ran hot and cold. We are sorry to say but we feel this offered poor value for money compared to 4 star hotel within city walls. I stay in hotels 3 to 4 times a week and the price for the £95.00 roomwas much too expensive. If the price would have been £60.00/70.00 Iwould may go back again but I doubt it.Shower was defect, either boiling or freezing in 30 second intervals. Parking was in the street beside a lot of "wild" youths gathering place, shouting, fighting, drinking. Had to empty the car completely to be sure it wasn`t robbed. Room was to small for four persons. TV did not work. "Childrens playground" (Which made us choose the place) was 4 by 4 meters of backyard between all the apartments.

Breakfast at the Dairy is between 8:30am and 9:15am. You can choose from full traditional breakfast, continental, vegetarian or vegan. Our breakfasts are all healthy, with no fat used for frying. Please note that we do not provide evening meals, however a list of recommended restaurants is available.
Important information to guests
Guests are able to drop off their bags between 10:00 and 12:00 instead of requesting an early check-in.
Breakfast is served each morning from 08:30.
Infants under 2 years of age stay free of charge in a travel cot, children between the ages of 2 and 13 are charged the child's rate in existing beds and children over 13 are charged adult fees. Please inform Dairy Guest House in advance of your expected arrival time. Travelling information
By car:
From the M1 join the A1(m) North and take junction 45 (A64 to York). Continue on the A64 towards York and take the second exit to York, signposted York West, Racecourse & Bishopthorpe. Go straight over the first set of lights, then turn left at the second set of lights. You need to be in the right-hand lane when you approach the third set of lights. Go straight through these lights headed for Bishopthorpe. Half a mile down this road, just before you approach Bishopthorpe village, turn left, signposted York and Racecourse. This is a short road with speed bumps - turn left at the end. You are now on Bishopthorpe Road. This road passes Middlethorpe Hall and York Law College. You will then pass the York Racecourse entrance on your left. Continue through approx 1 mile of residential area, until you reach traffic lights with Jacksons Mini-Market on the left. Turn left at these lights onto Scarcroft Road. A short way down this road, you will see The Dairy.
By rail:
We are A 5 minute taxi ride from the station, or if you prefer to walk, turn right outside the station, walk to the end of the road and turn right onto Blossom Street. Follow Blossom Street until you come to a set of traffic lights with the 'Kwikfit' garage on the right. Turn left at the lights onto Scarcroft Road. Follow this road to the other end, where you will find the Dairy on the right. Walking time - 15-20 minutes.
