Great setting and good food. Quiet relaxing atmosphere. I felt that despite it being a busy weekend the staff were warm and attentive and the food was very good. The staff were excellent especially the duty manager. The environs!. beautiful grounds , excellent meal and friendly staff.grounds location and good english breakfast. The staff and service were excellent. Main building - spectacular. Beautiful gardens. Peaceful location. the cocktails. House red wine - rather nasty and fizzy but, as we had only had a sip each. waiter took it back without quibble. The coldness of the room even with all the radiators on.the room was a little small and could have been improved with a better layout of the furniture. the room was very small and not as comfortable as i would have expected. Gun room bar - decor off putting and not a pleasant place to relax. Although not dirty, there was a lack of attention to detail, e.g cobwebs in all areas.the size of the beds and the tired decor in the rooms. not being able to put window on vent as staying in ground floor room.the room was extremely small and very basically furnished. shabby carpets, mixture of old and new. There were no rooms in the main house we we given one of the other roomsthe rooms were very small and we asked to be moved we had another roomthis was still small but bigger than the last one. We were booked in for3 nights but only stayed one night we would go again if we were in themain house we were told they are knocking down the block and adding 4star bedrooms adjoining the main house. Very cramped room. Hard bed. Some staff attitudes poor. Hotel had the atmosphere of an institution.staying there.
