What people say
Great location - the beach is just across the road. Ayr is just to the south & Largs, with the great pizzeria/gelateria is to the north. Staff at South Beach are wonderful - nothing is too much trouble here and you are always greeted with a smile. Rooms lovely & comfortable. Would I stay again - most definitely!.
Everything about the South Beach Hotel impressed me! The staff were
lovely, the room was clean, cosy and relaxing to be in and had an good
WiFi connection. The food was excellent.
I have stayed in more expensive hotels and had inferior experiences to this one.
I would recommend the South Beach Hotel to anyone!. all reviews »
Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room. I mentioned my disabilty on booking and got a ground floor room, but with an over-bath shower. Perhaps I should have asked for a walk-in shower. Breakfast was good. Hotel was in very good decorative condition. Easy parking.
Everything was fine and the staff - especially the young restaurant team - were brilliant. Dinners were excellent!
Even though there were noisy events on during our stay, we heard no noise in our bedroom.
Super value for money and every recommendation.
Good value. The evening meal and breakfast were good and reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful, friendly and attentive. The room was spacious and had a door to the patio. We enjoyed the comedy night which was part of the Live@Troon festival.
Excellent location being close to the beach, shops and railway station. The food was plentiful and of good quality and choice. The room was a good size and very comfortable. All in all very good value for money.

The hotel is a family run hotel, which made it a more pleasurable hotel to stay in. The staff were friendly and. knowledgeable about the area.

Nothing to dislike here.
Wi-Fi was a bit iffy.
Quite a bit of noise from traffic outside during the night.
Nothing.
The weather.
Too much variation of stuff (clutter!!) on walls and in cabinets. Net curtains awful in bedroom. pillows thin and hard.
Residents lounge at rear awful.
Nothing all good.

nothing.
Breakfast was ok could have used better quality produce and cooked when ordered breakfast was hot but a bit dried out as if had been kept warm.
bed a bit lumpy. no lift.
Small hard beds.
Nothing.
If I'm being really picky - the quality of the bath towels. They were thin, small and one was holed.
Maybe a vegetarian option on menu too would be good.
leaving.
Creaking floor boards.
parts of the hotel décor is a bit tired.
nothing.
Apparently the hotel has functions on most Saturday nights and the night
we stayed there was a wedding reception on, we felt like we were in the
reception it was that loud on calling reception to speak to the owner of
hotel I was advised that I should have told the hotel I was looking for
a quiet room ( not something I have ever had to do) and there was
nothing he could do about it. Owners attitude and manner quite abrupt
nice hotel but wouldn't stay again.
The décor in the bedroom was somewhat outdated which was a shame as it was a good sized room in a peaceful part of the hotel.
No major cons.
shower could do with upgrading as it was very poor. perhaps a power shower could be fitted.
Room was OK but tired. Mattress was stained and seemed very old/passed its best.
nothing.
Room was drab and small. No outlook. Heating didn't work. Owner
brought 2 fans for heat to the room. No hot water in the morning.
However the girl very kindly has offered a free bed and breakfast on
another date.
Very dated room decor. Dated fittings bathroom needed updating room 307.
