Torquay 2* star Hotels

Reading some the other reviews, I reckon there must be TWO Richmond Hotels in Torquay. This one could not have been better: Beautiful, spacious room; wonderful view; friendly, efficient staff; everything was clean - totally spotless; excellent breakfast; great value. We will definttely stay here again. - Cherry

Proprietors Jackie and Bob greeted us personally and made us feel most welcome. Room was very clean and pleasant and bathroom was fine. Breakfast was of a good standard and plentiful. Overall the hotel has a homely feel about it with pleasant lounge bar and dining room, and nice garden area. It is situated in a quiet road off Sheddon Hill just up from the sea front. This is our third visit in 2 years and will definitely be returning again. Superb value for money and with personal attention - Fiona

This hotel has some of the best views in torbay, and is located walking distance to the town centre and many other local attractions. My room was very nice, the staff here are extremely friendly and very helpful. The food was good and I definitely believe this is the best hotel for value for money in the area. I will most certainly be returning to the Waters Edge Hotel in the near future. - Peter

Our stay at Ansteys Lea was very enjoyable - the breakfast was varied and tasty - the evening meal was very good value for £12.50. The room had free view television and a fridge which for £25 per person was extremely good value. - Adonica

I stayed at the Crofton House Hotel with a group of friends and had the most wonderful time. There were several vegetarians and a vegan in our group and the chef provided an excellent range of food for all of us. All the staff were efficient and courteous and the owners bent over backwards to make our stay memorable. And who could forget the inimitable Marcel who provided such stunning entertainment on our first night that we asked that he be rebooked the following night? I would definitely retu - Stephen

Lisa, the owner is very jolly and a lovely lady. She has owned the hotel for 10 years and her two sons are very helpful, polite and work hard for their Mum. The hotel is cosy and informal. Breakfast is included in the price of stay (£30 per night) and although the choice is full English, a vriety of cereals, juice, toast and preserves, tea or coffee and a choice of fresh fruits, you can have as much or as little as you like and the full English is cooked to perfection. The hotel is a 5/10 minute bus ride from the town/sea front. The rooms are a nice size and the food of good quality. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Jade! The leisure facilities were good although the indoor pool is very very warm!!!! Cannot take drinks to the outside pool which is a bit of a shame as on a nice sunny day it would be nice to sit by the pool and have a drink. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a quality stay at a bargain price! - Kevin

We stayed the night of the 27th July 2006 on a whim. We saw the hotel on the internet but were unable to book it so phoned up.Though short our stay was very pleasant, nice room with great view, good breakfast and walkable distance from the centre. Heather was very pleasant even though I didn't recognise her in chefs gear at breakfast. Have seen good reviews for this hotel and would agree. My first time in Torquay was fun and lovely countryside. - Anthony

My husband and I have just returned from a five day stay at the Bute Court Hotel. Although it is in need of some updating, the room we had was large and comfortable with a 2 seater settee and plenty of drawer and cupboard space available. It was warm, carpeted and the bed was very comfortable. The only down side to the room was that the en-suite was tiny, just enough room for a shower and toilet and the shower was a little bit temperamental, but once you had sorted the temperature, it was fine. - Ana

We were a party of recycled teenagers, had a great time,very good staff, the owners are excellent hosts and made our stay a pleasure, luckily the weather was very good ,sunny all week. value for money, will be back - Ruth

I stayed at the Bancourt for my friends wedding reception which was held there. The room was very comfortable and clean. The swimming pool was closed which was disappointing. The wedding reception was excellent everyone had a great time and the hotel staff were exceptional!!! They set the room up nicely and catered for everyones need. I will definately go back to the Bancourt when staying in Torquay in the future. Excellent value for money! - Stephen
