  We were extremely impressed with the room in which we stayed. Our 19 month old daughter was given a lovely cot to sleep in, our sheets were always turned down by the time we got back at night and mints on our pillows-you cant get better than that! Our bathroom was extremely clean and we were provided with wonderful little shampoos and body lotion e... what people say » tc. Best place we have ever stayed!!! - We arrived tired after driving from Oxford, and our room was not ready. However the reception staff were marvellously kind and welcoming and gave us a complimentary tray of tea in the lounge. When it became clear that there would be a further delay, we were switched to another room immediately. I am full of praise for the reception staff.

  the games room, we used the most.there was a very gfood singer, that was not really our thing, but everyone else seemed to like it , and we could enjoy it,but still play pool etc in the annex off from it, so it was well thought out - Very impressed by naveens hospitality and even upgraded myroom...nice one!

  The hotel was excellent and certainly lived up to it's description and reviews. Marion and Les (the owners) were very welcoming (the pot of tea on arrival was very much appreciated). We stayed in one of the garden rooms which had recently been refurbished - it was lovely. The hotel generally was clean and tidy and the breakfasts were homecooked ... what people say » and delicious. - The owners of The Charterhouse made us feel very welcome. The house is in a great location for Torquay and near to Cockington Country Park. The hotel is great and you feel right at home in a relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast room was very pleasant and the breakfast was excellent. We couldn't have asked for more. We will be booking again.

  Despite poor weather that put paid to our weekend golfing break, we still had a great time in Torquay. Janet and Andrew both made us feel extremely welcome and couldn't do enough for us.   The hotel is set in a very good location near the sea. It has character of the old seaside town hotel, complete with tartan style carpet! Some lovely garden with tropical plants including a eucalyptus tree. I found the manager on call, Alex, very helpful when I needed change of mattress. He went out of his way to facilitate this and I was very imp... what people say » ressed by his attention to my request. Well done Alex. - stayed for 2 nights with a party of 7. and when we arrived we we`re greeted by a very nice chap at the reception and given the keys to the rooms to relax.and basically from that moment on the 2 nights was excellent and all the staff smiled and nothing was too much trouble.the 5 course meal was fab,the beds comfortable & breakfast ample.all in all a lovely weekend had by all

  The hotel was beautiful, the setting lovely. There was a wedding taking place but we were warned. However, it would have been good if we could have eaten something at the hotel. Maybe ordered takeaway if nothing else! The staff were extremely pleasant, polite and helpful (especially Russell who appeared to be on duty throughout our stay!) Also the rooms were not too hot as in other hotels we have stayed in - The room we stayed in was a gold room, clearly refurbished to a high standard. Luxurious room with a view out over the gardens and down to the sea. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Ideally placed for a five minute walk down into the harbour where there is a range of bars and clubs. There is a slight hill walk down and back up to the hotel but we didnt find it that bad although it could be for the less agile. All in all a fantastic stay and we will definitely stay again.

My son plays for Torquay United and lives a long way from home so we don't get to see him very often, Karen allowed him to come and join us for breakfast even though he never stayed at the baytree.
