There were excellent facilities at the hotel (swimming pool, games area etc) and plenty to keep our children occupied. The rooms were very clean and well serviced and the hotel is in a great location, near to Torquay town and beach, but in a quiet area. The friendliness of all the staff was consistent. The hotel caters for a broad range of guests and it manages this very well. It has kept all the features of the original building giving the hotel real character. We loved it and would stay again.
all reviews » The hotel was central for the railway and town centre but far enough out from the hustle and bustle. Central to the beach too. Hotel was very spacious and had plenty to do especially on a rainy day! The food was lovely too!. We loved the friendliness of the hotel - every member of staff without exception were so helpful. The leisure club was a huge bonus and not overcrowded. We loved it and will definitely return. Good size apartment. Clean and tidy. Good facilities - games room and swimming pools in particular. The staff at breakfast Friday morning (the 31st July) were a bit grumpy and slow but otherwise no complaints. Parking. Nothing. Nothing I can think of!. We met a couple who are disabled but on a bowling holiday staying in the Victoria Hotel and could not believe that they had to be pushed outside to get to the indoor bowling green in the rain. Also that they could not go to the evening entertainment due to no disabled access. The building looked quite shabby in places. The evening entertainment schedule was a little late starting and a lot of bingo. Could do with starting an hour earlier. Could all do with an update but clean and tidy enough. Nothing to complain about it was spot on. nothing. No food after 9:30 pm Room too hot Noisy street. It is a little bit dated. Needs Wi-Fi in Rooms. I didn't feel there was much variety of in house entertainment offered. Maybe some easy listening in one of the adult only bars would have done the trick. En suite very small in double room. Rooms were too warm and could not turn off the heating. The reception manager Julie was not very friendly and not really suited to a front of house position. Bed a bit hard. Bed comfort, beds a bit hard. lack of car parking spaces. Room was very hot. Crockery was very stained and tired. Chips offered every evening with meals, even when the side dishes were new potatoes,rice and vegetables. The plaice I ordered was obviously frozen. Torquay is on the coast ! Maybe fresh fish should have on offer. let down by general cleanliness (carpeted public areas) and obvious lack of general maintenance (pool area in particular and jacuzzi). torquay needs a good overhall its getting rundown. The lack of air conditioning. The room was dark, only a very small window. The room was noisy because the soil pipe ran down into the bathroom and every time people above used the shower or toilet we heard it (constantly) We did ask you for a front/sea/view/quiet room ... We had neither. Dreadful parking arrangements. Had to pay to use gym. staff more concerned with coach parties, felt ignored. Price for the condidtion of the hotel and our room. We arrived and booked out within 2 hours . Smelt and looked like a nursing home . Hasn't been decorated since the 80's I wouldn't have thought ... Truely awful !!!!.
