The hotel was gorgeous - very rustic, beautiful entrance, bars and restaurant. The rooms were very spacious and a great design. Great big windows, amazing bath and lots of storage space. The location was great as well, so close to the station and also parking if needed. A very smart hotel with good ambience and facilities. The dining area was excellent as was the bedroom. The staff were brilliant and could not do enough, particularly the receptionists We would definitely stay there again.

Excellent staff, quality food and drink, a lovely atmosphere and a wonderful setting. Everything but the view fromt he room. Impeccable staff, at the reception, at the bar and at the restaurant. They all exceeded expectations. The staff were very friendly, restaurant was good, bedrooms comfortable, original features made it different. Bedrooms were comfortable. Everything, from the moment I pulled up outside it was perfect. Fabulously chic yet not at all up it's self ! Truly relaxing .... Wonderful room with all comforts provided.Very friendly welcome from staff and nice decor around the hotel. Decor, French ambiance particularly in bistro, high levels of excellently trained and friendly staff. The young lady on reception (harry) was excellent. Bar was good as was the dinner in the restaurant. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. A truly comfortable hotel all around. The staff were friendly and the hotel quite buzzy. It was also fairly close to the party venue we were in Tunbridge Wells to attend. Room was ok. Our room was on the street side and only one window had double glazing, so was a bit noisy and made it quite cold. Also, I forgot a toothbrush and toothpaste and asked reception for it but was charged for it, usually this is standard in hotel rooms? Room service wasn't brilliant either, quite slow at arriving. Also food wasn't amazing. Nothing. View from the room on the main road, though it was not noisy. It was dark in the rooms, bedroom and spa. The bar was very busy in the evening and we would have loved to sit in there. However we found a lovely spot elsewhere in hotel so spoilt nothing . Parking was not easy and I do not like hotels that charge extra for breakfast. My dessert was substituted. pillows on the bed were poor, a power cut in the middle of the night turned on the emergency lighting for a long time which meant we did not sleep for many hours. We stayed in the garden room overlooking the main road.And must add that the room was a little airless do to double glazed windows. Maybe a little aircon in the room would be advisable. The lift was a bit rickety!. The view from our window was the top of the porch but that can't be helped!. It was too dark in the room - not enough light fixtures in my opinion. room was very small and a bit tired, bathroom was good though. The room was facing the street and a bit disappointing overall given the price. On arrival we were ignored, there were two ladies at the reception desk who did not even make eye contact, some form of acknowledgement would hav eg one a long way to make guests fell welcome. We were left standing for an uncomfortable amount of time until a very smiley French girl arrived and welcomed us. It it was a shame as this is what we remembered!. The price of the food. Room decor and furnishings were bland. Mixed up Bill. Tried to charge us for someone else's drinks/food. Nothing. Bathroom very small - difficult to turn on bath taps as the shower screen was fixed to the bath. Very poor TV and satellite choice, no digital IPOD radio or similar device in the room. Very small room; large, cold bathroom. Worn carpet. No comfortable chair in room but lounge and foyer being used by corporate event so nowhere quiet to sit until later in the evening, other than the bar, which was very dark. Not impressive for an Hotel du Vin, or any hotel come to that. The room was quite small for the price. No availability in restaurant for dinner at a reasonable time. I always think hotel guests should get some priority at hotel restaurants. Despite agreeing on booking the terms we were overcharged. Noise. Noise fromWedding during dinner. Noise from lift right outside our room door constantly opening and closing. Noise from road. No sitcom so had to have window open. Altogether stay spoilt by noise, no peace. The room was VERY disappointing. If we hadn't arrive late due to heavy traffic on our journey down, I would have asked to move. The bathroom was down a windy staircase, the bedroom was very tired. You had to stand on the bed to draw the curtains and the room was overlooking the main road, so very noisy. It was also very small. NOT value for money at all. Staff terrible Food was also bad Too expensive for what you got. Reservation I did online for dinner was cancelled.
