The journey north was oh so slow but the warden was quite happy for us to arrive after closing time, which was a great relief and we had a room to ourselves (two of us) so we could continue packing for the weekend.
The bunks were very comfortable and were already made up for us.
We could get a beer on arrival.
There were plenty of showers and toilets.
Breakfast was great! with lovely hot porrage and lots more unexpected treats.
Plenty of parking.

We stayed first time in UK`s yha Hostel and we were worrying about
atmosphere comparing to our polish hostels but really enjoyed!!! Lovely
!!! We`ll be using yha Hostels before book any hotels from now!!!.
Really enjoyed its remote location but at the same time being on the doorstep of many fells. The hostel was very inviting and cosy. The bar/lounge area was comfy and warm with a good atmosphere especially with the open fire ablaze. Beds were very comfortable, a lot better than how they used to be. Food good only had the breakfast.
All the staff made us very welcome nothing was too much trouble. Very
surprised how much yha have changed since my last visit many years ago.
It’s in a perfect location in one of the most beautiful valleys in the
Lake District with some of the best walks on your doorstep.
The cost of the accommodation and the food were excellent value for money, the provision of bedding, the food was simple but very, very good, it was clean, tidy and in good repair. Staff were very friendly and helpfull.

At the end of the wettest day of our coast to coast walk to find a great welcome, a drying room and a delicious hot meal was truly wonderful. I was completely surprised with the great facilities - not like the YHA's of my youth. I'd use others now.
The location was just a short drive from Keswick and the walks all around were brill , the accommodation was good ,clean and tidy . The food was excellent evening meal and breakfast , and a nice bar too.

Thought the pod was an ideal addition to the Hostel,cosy and warm and secure. We made an error not taking bedding but the staff were understanding and borrowed us some :).
A picturesque area away from the madding crowds with so many outdoor pursuits.such as trekking and climbing.The accomodation was excellent and a credit to the staff.

It was great.
Only the M6! and that we had to hurry away the next morning for the event we were doing.
Very tiny thing...no wi-fi in rooms upstairs, so don`t buy 24hour access
if you can use it only downstairs, as we did... Had to spent another
hour with beer in bar looking for route on endomondo ;).
Our bedroom being directly above the dining room, but I forgot to take my ear plugs. Part and parcel of staying in a hostel I suppose. No microwave containers to heat porridge (many pans of porridge on the go).

Place was so big that as a solo traveller I felt a bit lost, felt in some ways more like a hotel than a hostel. Would be great if you have company, especially a larger group.

We had booked a bunkroom for 6 males...when we arrived they were
expecting 1 female!!!!!!!!! Luckily they had a room free.
2 fridges out of action and very little space to store our food.. 1 gas hob unit completely out of order.
