  Based on one night stay we were greeted warmly by the owner/staff and felt very welcome immediately. (We had arrived quite late due to an RTC on the A66 and just missed the dinner service however the owner let us settle in with our luggage to large double/en-sute room and order our meal which we were very grateful for). Both the evening meal and full Cumbria breakfast were delicious in - lovely country hotel with cosy bar and nice rooms . food in restaurant was top notch. away from main busy roads in smaller village but only 10mins out off penrith and not far to the lakes or carlisle or on your way to scotland . i stop for workpurposes,but great for stop over . a lovely little hotel

  we payed a little more for a Lakeland room and it was well worth the mony, the only thing we would say is that the room was over the bar and it was a little noisey but that stopped as soon as the bar closed. - Everything!   yself and my husband and another couple stayed 1 night and chose this hotel due to the location - close to seascale but the location was beautiful the bar was a typical country inn type, the staff friendly, food was good & the Kamikazi real ale went down well. We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

  I loved the look of the building , Colin the guy on reception was really friendly , told me the history of the house . Food was hot and very filling . The price t, the views from the window . Very relaxing . All the staff very welcoming noting was too much . Best nights sleep in months . I text my friends and I'm already looking at returning later... what people say » in the year . The hotel is in the middle of refurb , little bit of chipped paint but overall I lloved it .Not stopped telling folk about it. I had B& - It was in an excellent location for our needs, we had a friends wedding to attend in maryport. The staff were all vey friendly and helpful.The tea making facilities in the room with biscuits was good, and the room was lovely and warm. overall, it was a lovely old country house, and we would definetly stay there again.

  I'm quite surprised that the hotel is only 2* as the facilities were excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I accidentally booked a twin room instead of a double via this website, sent them an email concerning this error, and my room was changed the next day and I was notified via a phone call.   Loacation was perfect for Wast Water which we wanted to explore. Breathtaking scenery all around the hotel. Easy walking distance to local pubs. - The valentines 3 course meal was great and we went horse riding, the hotel staff were excellent at arranging this for us.
