    This was a perfect break. The staff are such a friendly team and really go out of their way to make guests feel welcomed. The views out over the fells make you feel relaxed in the first 5 minutes.     We booked a 4-poster with Jacuzzi for a last-minute weekend break. We were not disappointed. Trevor, the owner made us feel really welcome, showed us around the property and took us up to our top floor spacious en-suite room. The buffet style breakfast was extremely varied and plentiful and the breakfast room was a good size and very comfortable. Overall an excellent e - Midweek rates in November were very good. Conveniently located hotel near the centre with plenty of off-street parking, which a lot of places in Ambleside do not have. The bedroom was not large but adequate, the kingsize bed being comfortable. Large bathroom with spa bath. Cold buffet breakfast was extensive and very good. Pleasant helpful efficient staff.

    The owners were both extremely helpful and friendly. We were contacted by phone a week before arrival to confirm that our requests for our Ruby Anniversary weekend had been met. Our room was just as the owner described and had views to die for. The food was very good, speedily prepared and well presented. Bar staff, waiters seemed part of a warm team enjoying their jobs. The pub/hotel is pet friendly. We had our medium sized, well-behaved dog in the bedroom, and in breakfast with us one day. The waiter helped with a bowl for leftovers/water. The hotel is in a great location overlooking the tidal Kent estuary. Good walks nearby, Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, regular train service to local stations north and south.

    The room was quirky inasmuch that it was on two levels with a beautiful refurbished bathroom, a dressing table area and wardrobe, then up four stairs to the bedroom and sitting area. Nothing was lacking in facilities. THe restaurant and bar areas were always busy and popular with walkers and visitors to the area. I shall definitely stay at Wateredg - The Wateredge Inn is in a wonderful location right on the lake. The views out to the boats bobbing on the lake were lovely. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable as was the bathroom. The inns lounge and dining areas were very nice, with again a beautiful outlook. The two Scottish sisters who waited on us for breakfast were lovely and friendly as was Ryan the bar man. The countryside around Ambleside was really beautiful and well worth a longer visit.

    Excellent. The Staff were helpful and pleasant at all times. The Hotel was spotlessly clean, our room light and airy. - Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Friendly staff and a lovely room with a fantastic view. No complaints!

    The location of the Hotel is fantastic. In the middle of nowhere! The history about the Hotel is fascinating. All the facilities the Hotel offered are first rate. The staff are excellent, the food gorgeous and the rooms very clean and tidy.     Very clean and recently refurbished. Staff veryt friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 days and had our Dinner in the hotel on both days. (there is no where else to eat in the immdiate vicinity.     Everything. We go to The Lakes often, but had not stayed in Keswick. The location, staff, room (very spacious) and facilities were very good indeed. We really look forward to returning soon to The Skiddaw Hotel. - Central location, high standard of accommodation, friendly staff.

    We stayed 2 nights half board basis. Food was really lovely and staff were very helpful and polite. Rooms were really spacious and very clean with everything you need. The location was perfect for us as we stayed here to go to the zoo and it was only 5 mins away, also there is a beach about a 2 mins drive along the road from the hotel which was gr... what people say » eat as the weather was red hot! This hotel is excellent value for money and would defiantly stay here again. - We are a couple in our early 40s and got a good deal at the last minute on letsbookhotel.com for 2 nights at the weekend. Lovely, clean, modern room & en-suite. Great English cooked breakfast. Located slightly off the beaten track in a quiet location nestled amongst fields, but within easy reach of the main road into Ulverston, Barrow and Dalton. Would definitely stop again and recommend it to everyone.

    The owners had arranged a lovely basket of flowers for my wife as it was our anniversary but also upgraded our room what a lovely touch, a very clen and bright hotel lovely freindly staff in a great position. Very confortable rooms and great to have a bar and social area so that you can unwind after a busy day. The staff made us feel very welcome and worked very hard. Nothing was too much trouble.The food was very good and our compliment to the Chef in this regard bearing in mind the small kitchen he has to work in.Overall a very good experience and it wont be long before we return

    We loved our stay at The Sun Inn! Alex and his staff made us feel like part of the crowd with their easy-going professionalism and friendly approach. Climbing the stairway to our room above the common rooms gave us a good feel for how life was in the early 19th century when The Sun Inn was constructed. My mate was really taken with the room, calling it his Hobbi - Lovely well thought out room decor wise with lots of character and everything you'd expect - twinnings tea & tea making facilities, extra comfortable bed, a decent hairdryer and good hot & roomy power shower. Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable (cheesecake at 10:30pm and putting any sports onto the tv) and created a great laid back atmosphere. Food was lovely, both breakfast and evening meals with a decent range of choice and fresh home cooked

    We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!). Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was light and clean. ... what people say » Breakfast was good, plenty of it and good, prompt service. Would recommend this hotel to others. - A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!

    This little guest house, has been the best to date, on regular stays in the Ambleside area, what impressed us most was the cleanliness of the room we where in, and the en-suit was immaculate, the room was classed as a superior room, and was amply sized, with a king sized bed with a hugh flat screen Sony TV, loved the working sash windows, facing... what people say » the old Police Station. We stayed 2 nights celebrating my partners 40th, no faults at all, and a warm welcome from Lynne and Alan, the proprietors. - Very good guesthouse with very friendly and efficient staff. The double room with en-suite (£70 per night B&B) was very good value, well appointed and was very clean with high levels of local information. The breakfast was extensive with cereal, fruit juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, full English breakfast with tea/coffee and toast. Alan who co owns Melrose house with his wife Lynn could not have been more helpful. A definite recommendation for Melrose House and will tell family and friends.
