This guest house should have a 5 star rating instead of the 4 it has. Absolutely beautiful from the car park to reception to the gorgeous bedroom(14) and the breakfast area. All spotless and a credit to the owners. We arrived early but, unlike other places we have stayed, it was not a problem the owner showed us to our room on the top floor which was immaculate and huge with the most glorious views of oban bay and beyond. The bed was one of the best ever slept in, the en suite had everything ne.

Iona is a real character who we found helpful and very witty :-) She has a wonderful team of staff who are very attentive and made our stay memorable. The hotel is a pleasant walk into town it took us a leisurely 10 mins which was handy for the Ferry Terminal. My daughter and her friend stayed in a Twin room (b) which was located on the side of the hotel. It was . Check in was friendly and quick. I had mistakenly booked the wrong night and the room I had requested was not available for the correct night. Iona was so apologetic over my mistake and gave a reduced rate for the room we had. The room was perfect as it was an external room with parking right outside, brilliant and better than we could have wished as we travelled on a motorbike so no stairs to get our luggage up into the hotel. The variety of accomodation suiting all travellers and the parking . My partner and I had a wonderful weekend at the Glenrigh. The view from the room could not get muh better. Iona and the staff were friendly and inviting. I had asked them to buy and place a bouquet of local and seasonal flowers in the room and they made such a wondeful choice for a very modest price. Breakfast was tasty and there were many options. The hot smoked salmon was great! The location is prime, a short walk to the centre and right on the sea. Overall we had a lovely time. Oh and the . The guest house has been recently refurbished and this is evident from stepping through the door. The welcome we received was first class and we were given a very large room with seating. Our room also had some of the best views of the sea and the harbour, available in Oban. Breakfasts were varied, with a very good choice. The position of the guest house is excellent, just away from the centre, yet an easy stroll to the ferry and restaurants and a short stroll in the other direction brings you. Comfortable, roomy accommodation with all facilities. Excellent breakfast. Pleasant staff. We had a sea view so it was interesting to watch the harbour comings and goings. Great location for exploring Oban and surrounding countryside . We didn't take the car on a day trip to Mull because the bus service met the ferry. So we went to Tobermory by bus and were both able to enjoy the views. There are loads of restaurants in Oban. Room was very spacious and nicely decorated. View was amazing from our huge Bay Window in our room, facing straight out on Oban Bay. Guest House was immaculately clean, well furnished, warm and all staff very friendly and helpful. The Guest House is in an Excellent position on the sea front and a short walk to the town. Parking facilities are in the grounds. The building is well maintained and our room was excellent, very clean and good facilities with a view across the bay. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a Guest House. The Glenrich is set in an upmarket part of Oban. It is an impressive older building upgraded to provide luxury rooms and even the entrance gives the impression of entering a luxury hotel. Love the stained glass. The decanter of sherry was wow! The view was perfect, looking over the sea. We will be back again. This is the second time that we have stayed at the Glenrigh, Iona and the Gang are a fantastic team and very welcoming. I like the fact, that you can have a "Full Scottish" Breakfast, and you can walk straight onto the promenade, have a quick walk to little Ganavan and be ready for the rest of the day. Liked the little extras, decanter of sherry in room, decanter of whisky in hall, good quality biscuits in room to accompany tea and coffee. Quite a bit of dusting missed , the lampstands and the bottom shelf of both tables by the mirrors.All the curtain tiebacks were upside down and inside out ,not a big deal but it shows lack of attention to detail. Our bedroom was on the ground floor - a very nice room and adjacent sitting room, but the bedroom could have done with blinds or a net curtain. It was a bit exposed. Also hooks on the doors would have been appreciated. the only thing i did not like was not having a bath,but that is minor moan!!. I happy to say that there were no negatives or dislikes. Next time we visit I will be making sure we get a sea view room as we didnt get one this time but it would be well worth it. I wish I'd booked earlier because our room didn't have a view of the sea. Worth asking for. It was a pity to be staring at the house next door when we'd paid a reasonably high amount per night. Only one thing would really have appreciated a bath to soak in after long day exploring lovely Oban !!. The weather! Appalling! But even Gilbert and Iona can't do much about that!. There was nothing. On this point there is nothing to say. As with everywhere, prices are per person with no discount for children. pre-schoolers especially could have a reduced rate given that they will eat so little at breakfast time. Nothing. Nothing! We were very impressed by Glenreigh and it's staff. Nothing. Shower was in very poor working order.
