A Victorian Hotel built between 1865 and 1901, the Columba Hotel overlooks the town of Oban and Oban Bay. It has a 24-hour front desk, a traditional restaurant and 2 bars. We liked everything. The room was spotless and very well set out. There was a lovely view of the sea and the bed was very comfy! We're vegetarians and there was plenty choice for us at breakfast - we were stuffed by the end!!. Lovely room with view over harbour. Ideal location. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Wide range of choice for breakfast. Would definitely recommend.The refurbished seaview room was very nice - shower room a bit on the small side. Staff were excellent and overall very good value for money.

Nothing to fault. I would like to suggest that the hotel asks coaches not to block the lovely view from the restaurant. Staircase to rooms - carpet threadbare. Lift looked like it came out of the Ark .. was very afraid to use it!!!. I gave comfort a "good". The room was lovely but the bed.....super king size i believe......was twins joined in the middle.......that meat that while nice n firm, there was a great lump in the middle where the two were joined and both sides were lower than the middle.....was kind of uncomfy because of that......but not impossible... The only thing we would say is that the room wasnt very warm when we first arrived, but that would be me just being picky because we really enjoyed our stay. the lift was out of the dark ages. Room was very cold on arrival and the two heaters could just about keep the chill out. Breakfast was a dissapointment. Arriving 15 minutes after start of breakfast and buffet looked like it had been out for hours and was not very nice.Not sure the bathroom was as clean as it could be. Wireless internet did not work - very irritating when no-one knows how to fix these issues. Room very noisy from downstairs pub. Hotel reception decor was tatty and breakfast could be improved. room could have been warmer. Only 3 channels on the tv and one was fuzzy. really silly things that would have made the stay better , valance sheets hiding the old but comfortable beds tiles/lino on the bathroom floor instead of carpet , a toilet roll holder instead of a floor standing effort and attention to detail when it came to decor , a coat of ceiling paint to cover the loose edges .Also a more modern lift facility. bed a little hard. yes the toilets downstairs were not clean. Decor was very old and plain. They are in the process of refurbishing, though so this should not be a issue for much longer. Outside appearance lets it down. Limited free parking. At New year seemed understaffed - hence room had had a reasonable surface clean rather than a thorough one - (e.g. biscuit crumbs in drawers). Although non smoking the previous occupants had smoked in room. (not fault of hotel). mattress to be review, no remote control for television.

The Alba restaurant has recently been refurbished, but has managed to keep its relaxed atmosphere and Victorian charm. It offers a table d'hôte menu. Bar food is available in the lounge bar and Alba bar.

Oban is known as “The Gateway to the Highlands” is a picturesque port on the west coast of Scotland.

Oban was a fishing village but is now one of Scotland's most popular tourist destinations. It is the ideal port from which to visit the islands. It has many attractions for the visitor including the Oban Distillery which was built by Hugh Stevenson in 1794. The sunsets over Oban Bay are quite breathtaking in their splendor.
