We paid £60 for a superior room for 3 of us. Very pleasant, good bathroom, friendly staff. The location was convenient as there seemed to be a bus into town almost every minute from outside the door. Breakfast in the morning was quite average, and the table cloth was not clean. Great value, except for coffee in the bar, where we paid over £2 for instant decaff! Overall though, would be happy to stay there again. - Shirley

we had our wedding at the gateway hotel at nottingham and was excellent the service was fantastic the meal excellent the evening disco was great the dj was real fun we would recommend anyone to have their wedding there.paul and sylvia - Elizabeth

Having read some reviews I wasn't sure as this was my first stay at this hotel, I needn't have worried. Fantastic service experienced with fast and efficient check in and facilities explained fully. I liked the nice big room, London hotels could learn a thing or to, good bathroom and toiletries, minibar and view from the 8th floor. The only slight niggle was there is no car park at the hotel and it costs £14.20 for 24 hours in the NCP across the road. Finally have to mention the breakfas - Frank

Booked this hotel due to it being on special offer (£42 per night). Wasn't expecting much but the room was very clean and bright, though a bit pokey, bathroom was spotless and quite elegantly designed with a massive shower. It was also quiet despite being a sat night. Bed was comfy and loads of channels on the TV. The staff were immensely helpful and friendly and even let us use the leisure facilities after we had checked out and returned after running in the Nottingham marathon! Restaurant was - Anthony

Modern establishment offering good all round facilities. Breakfast very diversified and good quality. Evening Meal OK. However although staff are totally committed to please there is a training need for a four star status. We visited Nottingham for the weekend to meet up with friends. The hotel is very close to restaurants, bars and shops (which was very handy) yet the room'sspecial windowa meant that we weren't bothered by any noise outside. There was also no noise at all on the corridor, which was very impressive considering we stayed on Friday and Saturday nights. We might have been disappointed with the size of our twin bedded room if we had paid the full £120 price, but for our reduced rate we were happy tha - Julie

i have had the pleasure of staying at the crowne plaza in nottingham, and i have never been so taken back by the staff, all of which made sure mine and my business staff stay was comfortable. i was welcomed with a smile all the time and staff in the hotel made sure that every second of my stay was treat with such professionalisym and class. through out my career i have stayed at many hotels, and none can come close to this experience at the crowne plaza. i would like to thank the staff for all - Iain

We stayed here over a weekend to watch some football. The hotel is in a great location, approximately £5 to most bars in Nottingham. The staff were very friendly and happy to advise of where to go to drink. The rooms were also very nice and extremely clean, the only issue was that the shower was not very powerfull, however this was only a minor irritation. I have stayed at the Rutland Square Hotel in Nottingham many times over the past decade - when travelling on my own on business and when sightseeing with friends and family. My most recent stay was last Sunday night (18th May) when I paid £40 for my single room with full English Breakfast. The hotel itself is located in the centre of the city next to Nottingham Castle and not far from the shopping centre and railway station - as well as my favourite pub, the "Trip to Jerusalem". I stayed at Hylands Hotel at the beginning of September while my son moved into Nottingham University's student accomodation. The hotel's proximity to the Universtiy campus made it perfect for us and at £55 for a double room the price is'nt bad either. The staff proved very helpful in giving us directions and advising us of nice local places to eat and also the cooked breakfast which was included in the price was a great way to start a long day of moving my son's furniture. We were moved to here from the Travelodge as it was overbooked. Luckily the Ibis had availability at very short notice, especially during the Ice Hockey play off weekend. On arrival they were very very helpful, nothing was too much for them. They checked in our 6 rooms quickly and explained the hotel to us all. Jana (duty manager) was particulary helpful, nothing was ever a problem during our stay. The rooms were very clean and spacious enough. There was a double bed which was very firm, - Karen
