From Michael on the desk who was very, very helpful to all the staff in the Verve Restaurant, who were exceptionally good. the staf were friendly, rooms were modern, food was excelent and the facilities were also og an ecelent standard. Modern Hotel, simple check-in process, excellent breakfast and good price. comfortable room, leisure facilities, very good drinks in the bar.

It is located conveniently for a range of facilities. Staff friendly, but on the Monday evening we had to wait 15 mins until a waitress came to take our order, 45 mins for the meal to be cooked. The spa facilities were excellent.Clean Room. dosnt have great views from room windows. we thought the meal was very bad. we sent both meals back because they were cold, chicken breasts were very dry and not very tasty. puddings were good. Quite a distance from town centre. A bit noisy late on due to function below. service in the restaurant was poor-waited over 30 minutes for main course even though it wasn't that busy.Walls are really thin-could hear next doors conversations!. Bar in hotel was noisy, due to loud TV and radio, often both on together!. We were disturbed throughout the night by a rowdy Stag Party group in the room opposite us. no sound proofing between rooms and floors. Coffee machine being cleaned at 10.20pm although you were offering IrishCoffee available. A quibble but annoying never the less.Surcharge on the price of the hotel rooms on the weekend of the greatnorth run. Resturaunt service was very slow and several food and drinkorders were wrong and late in ariving. Poor use of restaurant staff both at Dinner on the Friday and breakfast on the Saturday. The restaurant staff were rather unfriendly and disorganised although the lunch and evening meals were excellent. Meals. Dinner very poor value for money. Breakfast swimming in fat.Breakfast was a disaster on both days of our stay due to lack of staffwe a had very long wait to get in, tables not cleared food andkitchenware top up without asking. breakfast =. ran out of coffee. cooked food was dry. only white bread for toast quality of tv in room. I requested a twin room when booking but on arrival was given a double; as the hotel was full they couldn't change it. there was no information in the room related to the hotel I was in - no telephone numbers or opening times etc. The restaurant really let the hotel down, we had 2 v bad meals ! the first we put down to them being busy burnt food wrong meals forgot drinks ordered. We returned the following day much earlier with hardly anyone in hoping for better service however it was just as poor. Extremely noisy - woken several times between midnight and 4am by hotelrevellers outside the hotel and in corridors. The rooms are all nonsmoking but room smelled of stale smoke. Staff said hotel was full andthat the hotels fines those who smoke but that doesn't help you ifyou're the next into the room! I am booked for another night at thehotel and have requested a quieter location. I booked this hotel expecting to be able to use the leisure facilities. My husband had to go to a meeting on the Monday morning and I decided to book a massage while he was away. When I went to book it I was told that unfortunately they had decided to close the beauty rooms on a Sunday and Monday therefor no treatments available. I was very dissapointed. There were no "smoking" rooms available.Food quality a bit poor. The hoekls restaurant was a disgrace! 1 hour to serve two salad starters, dreadful service and dreadful food. Not to be recommended.
