A seventeen bedroom hotel, newly decorated and refurbished. We have a fantastic modern restaurant and a trendy new bar popular with the locals and our residents.

I liked the roomy and secluded car park. The staff were kind and friendly. excelent staff, very helpfull and frendly. Staff were excellent very helpful and pleasant, especially with assistance given to one of our party, who was disabled and a wheelchair user. The location and easy connections towards the road networks (A40). The friendliness of Staff and Management. Good breakfast service.

The staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The hotel was very conveniently situated. That it was close to the center of the town.That was the only good feature of the hotel. I will make some specific suggestions to the Management on practical issues for traveling businessmen during my next stay. outside appearance was a bit offputting on first look and belied the cosy interior. not enough staff so room not ready at 14.00 hrs and meal service a bit slow. bathroom rather old-fashioned. I thought it a little dear for the quality of the facilities. I also thought the extra bedding was poor. Just a little moan, I wanted to work in my room, but only had a stool to sit on.The bath mat was completely covered in mould which did not accurately reflect the overall cleanliness of the hotel. There was no catering of any kind (including apparently for breakfast which is not included anyway so was not much of a hardship)but there was a great pub just a few doors away for a meal. The bar smelt overpoweringly of fresh paint. OK so things have to be painted but no statement was available on the web to this effect. Very few hotels, including this one, ever offers an 'inconvenience' discount. dampness.musty smell about my room.No soap or shampoo was supplied in our room. No restraunt available. The bathroom. The shower would not stay where pointed and flooded floor. Bathroom decor was in need of renovation. Appeared slightly short staffed and the chef being off sick meant no dinner which caused some inconvenience. First of all the name "Riverside" is a mis-nomer. My room was tired and in need of a face lift. The TV was very old with extremely limited choice of programmes. Also no chef so had to dine out.The breakfast room, bed room ( next to the street).

Travelling information

Monmouth is well located just off the a40. To get to the hotel you should exit the a40 at the Trellech and Rockfield junction. If you are approaching from the North you will drive past Monmouth before reaching the Trellech and Rockfield Junction, which is immediately before a tunnel on the a40. Drive to the end of the slip road and take a right. Follow this road down the hill to the mini roundabout, turn left, and follow the road through the traffic lights. The Riverside Hotel is almost immediately on your left. If you are approaching from the South, you will go through a tunnel and come off immediately afterwards at the Trellech and Rockfield junction. Follow the slip road to a mini roundabout, and go straight ahead and through the traffic lights; The Riverside Hotel is almost immediately on your left.
