It's my first time to stay in a hostel and it is even better than I expected. The frontdesk is very very friendly and helpful. Room (4 bed) is clean/quiet and has a wonderful window view of the St. Pancras Hotel across street. And, LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! It's pretty much in Central London and a 2 or 3 min walk to King Cross St. Pancras station, a hub for several lines, which can take you to almost all main attractions with minimum change. I would definitely choose this hotel again for .
all reviews » Superb location, modern facilities and they happily give you hot water to refill your bottle in the cafe without extra charge. I stayed in a 6-bed female dormitory and everything worked out quite well. Yes, the window facing the street is a bit noisy, but it didn't bother me. Remember to bring your own padlock if you want to use the locker. And cheppals :-). Brilliant staff... very helpfull and extremely friendly. The reception area and dining area were lovely (although struggled for seating at breakfast) The food was excellent and brilliant value... especially breakfast. We liked it so much we had a meal later that evening before we had to nip across the road for our train home!. Location is excellent. I recommend the British Library (especially the 'rare books and music' room) literally across the street. It's a quick walk from King's Cross station too. This hostel is extremely modern and welcoming. You can tell it's maintained and the staff take care of their guests. The hostel has a great location, it's close to the subway, railway station, and you can also walk to some attractions. There are restaurants and snack-bars near the hostel. The bed is comfortable, the room is neat. The hotel is very organized and the staff is really friendly. The hostel is really clean - rooms, linens, bathroom, corridors... I think the bathroom should be cleaned more times in a day, beause at the end of the day it would start to smell a little. The bathroom could use some renovation - the fan did not work and the shower head sprayed sideways, so there was always a pool of water on the floor outside the shower stall where there is no drain. Private dorm (five beds) was smallish with hardly any space for luggage/bags. the heating didn`t work in the room and the blanket was a bit thin for the temperature. The provided electric heater couldn`t heat the room. Breakfast meal kinda costly, which most other hostel provides it for free. Shower sprayed in face forcefully and could not be adjusted. Constant ambulance/police sirens, the fact that wifi is free only if you're a member (most hostels have it free anyway), the girl in my bed dorm sang ALL night in her sleep and I didn't sleep at all. But I guess the staff couldn't do anything about it, weirdos are everywhere. - Wi-Fi should be much cheaper (at £5 per day it really adds to the cost of your stay) or free! In this day and age it should not be so expensive - The bathrooms (on 6th floor, at least) are not well ventilated so smell pretty bad. The room was very warm during the night. The pillow was thin and smelt of greasy hair. Shared bathroom led to waiting 30 mins for one person to finish in the shower, and no hot water that day. Having said that, the two other days were fine with piping hot water. The only thing I can slightly pick out, is that the sink (in the dorm) appeared to have no lever to adjust the 'fixed in' plug, and therefore it took quite a while for it to empty after use (which left the sink a bit dirty round the edges). letsbookhotel.com and the Hostel itself didn't say that if people have "YHA card" and book the YHA London St Pancras on Hostelz.com will have a 3 pounds discount per person per night. If we knew that before, we wouldn't have to spend an extra £72(4 people, 6 nights) Shower always went cold after a few minutes, and the water supply is poor. Light in the bathroom randomly turn dark when taking shower or having a toilet. No kitchen. The pillows were a bit on the thin side but still not bad for a hostel. There was quite a lot of traffic noise but that's to be expected when the hostel is right on the main road. A bit expensive - but hey, it's London. Showers were a bit weak but manageable. The showers were not the cleanest and had an unpleasant smell, it took forever for water to get warm. Lounge is a little small. Only a very slight negative - shower room a little smelly, but many use same facility. Waking up at nite when sb came with bad manner. You should tell them strictly concerning distubance others. There is no hostel style and character. Elderly and youngsters stay together. It is more a cheap hotel rather than a youth hostel. The only thing we were not pleased with was a smell beginning in the 3rd floor hall and continuing into our room. 1- That I had to pay for a towel. 2- there wasn't any kind of washing soap, or shampoo. Sheet on top bunk was dirty. pay for Wifi. Having to share a room with strangers. WiFi is not free. Too much noises on the street a night. Not being able to open a window, A/C too hot, my rooms smelt of tobacco where people had been rolling cigarettes, very bad consideration from other guests - still talking at full volume at 0030 hrs. Nothing. Noise from Euston Road. I had no idea how many emergency vehicle pass by all night long! On the cross section of not just one but 2 main roads! Also in my room one woman seemed to be chatting on her phone or computer half the night. I spoke out but it just got quieter it didn't stop. I did bring earplugs but they didn't cut out all the noise. bathroom wasn't very nice- no soap!!..sink was very slow to empty so waiting ages to have a wash. Rooms a little cramped. The bathroom was very hot and airless.
