They let me check in early, which is always incredibly convenient fora solo traveler relying on public transit. Lovely building with a beautiful courtyard. There was a good spread at breakfast, and the staff was very helpful. About a two minute walk from the Limehouse DLR station and just a few stops from Canary Wharf. I visited Hyde Park and it was maybe a thirty minute trip, not bad at all. The property seems to be quite secure; the gate is locked after 8. Your room key gives you access. It'.
all reviews » Originally a retreat centre for the Anglican Church, this accommodation provides so peaceful environment with friendly staffs' assistance. In the pamphlet, this one calls itself a "hidden urban oasis", and it is just what it says. You can find a very clean bed and room with pleasant and large space. Wi-fi connection is fast and free, and even the home-made style breakfast was magnificient, too! I strongly recommend to wake up early and take a silent walk around its beautiful garden. I have b. Parking available, so wasn't crucified by awful London parking costs. And for 4 people staying in London on a Saturday night it was very good value, with an enjoyable breakfast included. Having checked out we were able to go off and enjoy the day, but leave the car at the hotel. We also left something in the fridge but didn't realise until after we'd checked out and been out for the day, but when we returned we asked about it and the item had been been found and was returned to us. Very commend. My parents and I were at the Royal Foundation of St Katharine for one night only as we were spending the weekend in London. They stayed in a spacious king room whilst I had a comfortable single room. The staff was really nice, my parents had been given a disabled room at first and they promptly moved them to a normal one when we asked. Breakfast was lovely, best croissants I've had in a while :) The hotel also has a really pleasant atmosphere and is very close to the underground station. It's a little oasis in the City - peaceful with a beautiful garden right next to easy transport links. Brilliant power shower and rooms and water enjoy plentiful but controllable heating. Spotlessly clean. The breakfast was a very good continental - good selection of cereals and fruit and freshly baked croissants and pastries with free range boiled eggs too. Parking on site free - fantastic for London and easy and safe security gate for after dark. Lovely, quiet location, but convenient for the city. We travelled by LDR and tube, walked along the river front and also caught the bus along Commercial Road to Trafalgar Square passing so many tourist sites on the way.Top marks!. The hotel is ideally located within walking distance to Limehouse DLR which is frequently connected to the city centre. It's right next to limehouse station, very easy to get into other parts of london from there. St Katherines was clean, comfortable and the staff friendly. Lovely quiet hotel with garden and parking. The Royal Foundation of St Katharine is a great place to stay while visiting London. Very calm and nice atmosphere and close to the train station. It feels more like home than a hotel. I booked it base on reviewers' score and I'm very happy with my selection. Just 3 min. wlak from Limehouse station which is just two stations away from Tower Bridge. Within less than 5 min. walking distance, there's a Tesco supermarket. If you are to check in or come back late, you would better call the reception in advance to let them know you will be late. Or you can take your card key with you to open the outside door. Because it was so silent in the night, that I felt sorry even for ringing the bell and breaking that peace... :-). The beds weren't the most comfortable that we had slept on. People speaking loudly on the phone in the next room until late into the evening. Not the hotel's fault, I know, but it spoiled the peaceful atmosphere somewhat. It would be good for staff to remind guests not to speak so loudly. This doesn't seem unreasonable given the special nature of the place. I cannot recall one thing I did not like. Furthermore, I am already looking to stay here during my next visit to London. The tiniest fault - needs 2 towel hooks on the bathroom door as the bath towels are so thick and luxurious. The breakfast was too poor for that kind of hotel. Could be better. No TV in the room. NB: If you use GPS to find it via postcode be very careful as it will direct you to the Rotherhithe tunnel !!. Nothing special really. only one minor thing was the guests who were a bit noisy during the night. Nothing to mention here, I have definitely recommended the retreat to a number of friends already. Not much that I didn't like, apart from there didn't seem much of an atmosphere, or a bar, there was the facility to buy drinks but I wouldn't call it a bar, other than that if was great. - I did not have any adaptor for english power standard, so that I asked the staff to lend me one but they only accept to sell me one (for a higher price than we could find in any market). I find it was an unpleasant detail. Traffic quite noisy at night - maybe it was just the room I was in. Not too sure about Limehouse at night for a lone female, particularly the route back from the station - got a taxi back from Westminster in the end. nothing at all. No fridge. I would have like to have filled up my water bottles and put them in a fridge to keep cool. For some inexperienced visitors to London, it may not be clear how to get to Limehouse (the nearest tube stop) by public transport. Taxi from one of the main London railways stations will be fairly expensive. Shower was a bit fiddly. The room was maybe too small. Hard to find. Taxi did not know where it was and dropped us in the rain. No television - which is good and bad Standard rooms are small. I didn't mind the lack of TV as free WiFi and an IPad can compensate. Our room was compact and fine for a night but a longer stay would have become cramped. Entrance is hard to find and map is confusing. Nothing. Difficult to find. No evening meal provision and I feel a little nervous seeking out restaurants whilst travelling alone. Room 27 air conditioning unit making frequent loud roaring noise. Our only grumble would be about the shower, it was more a trickle than a shower. If they could have addressed this (we stayed in room nine) everything would have been perfect. At the time of booking if I had known that the single room was located directly over the kitchen and facing onto the main A-road I might have decided to pay more for a quieter double room. The location is nothing special, but that's o.k. for the price you pay. our room being over the door banging was annoying plus traffic noise up till 11oclock pm,we will ask for a rear room next time. location was a bit odd!. Not central location so need to take at least 2 trains to get there.
