We were "Upgraded" to another Grange Hotel on the opposite side of the road. BUCKINGHAM HOTEL. This was even better than the Lancaster. The `Ratings` shown above are in fact for this Hotel. The Buckingham Hotel. We will most certainly be making a return visit one day in the future. Efficiently run. Attractive decor, very comfortable room. Some staff friendly. Fantastic location, very central but quiet attractive streets with beautiful old buildings and lovely public gardens. relaxing environment.

Therefore only assessing the upgrade which may not benefit from next time. Room too hot. Weather was warm and room facing the sun. As there was a balcony adjoining other rooms it didn't feel safe to open the windows fully. Some sort of window lock would help. Facilities very minimal, but fine given the price for such a central location. Although we understood our room wouldn't be ready when we were arrived we were told our suitcases would be taken to the left luggage room for us. We returned 4 hours later to see them sitting where we left them. We settled our bill immediately on arrival but were called later in the day to request us to come to reception and settle the bill!. the poor sound insulation. no in room toilet. The rooms were small with basic facilities and uncomfortably warm. Not finding the tea making things until nearly too late. No evening meal facility No en suite toilet shower straight out into room Confusing costs at breakfast, what you thought you had paid for. Did not sleep well, I heard all noise outside. Very old towels and bed sheets. No wi-fi, internet for money:(. in some rooms there was a strong smell of the kitchen in the morning and it remains a little bit in the evening. The staff was very good to find me another room but they should pay attention this thing. Old fashioned,bit tired,expensive breakfast and most importantly blocked shower. Hotel did not measure up to European hotels we had spent 10 days staying in prior to our return to London. Old bed, uncomfortable pillow, thin windows and noisy street. Bathroom very tired a large crack in washbasin the shower door required refixing food too expensive for breakfast in the hotel also only in room for other foods no bar to sit in . room without toilet.
