The Gables is well placed for a visit to Lincoln, especially if like us you did not want to drive in and find parking. On our first day we used the train and the next day went by bus to town. it was very easy and convenient to travel thus. The guest house is extremely comfortable and Hilary had thought of everything for the convenience of the guests. She struck the perfect balance of being pleasant and friendly without overwhelming. The breakfast menu was nothing short of 5* would have loved to stay longer if only to sample everything offered on their superb menu. Would not hesitate going back to the Gables Guest House. The Gables is a fantastic place immaculately clean and better than some 5 star hotels I have stayed in and I have stayed in many. Nothing has been overlooked for the guest could not fault it. I do not normally stay in B&B's when on business but I will definately stay here again if there is a room spare.The owners are lovely and the breakfast choice is excellent and very tasty. Very comfortable beds and pillows a must place to stay. The Gables was excellent. We were house hunting so the location, the food and the accommodation was very well placed for us. The whole house is spotless and comfortable, and the owners very welcoming. I loved all the little extras like the cotton wool balls, the face cloths, and the soaps and hand creams were beautiful. If we were in the area again we would stay there. Everything about The Gables was very good from the friendly welcome on our arrival to the decor and comfort provided to our room. Another plus was the shower room in which everything (including face cloths) was provided. The breakfast had so much variety and plenty of it and excellent quality. The breakfast room is bright and clean and the service second to none. All the personal touches such as cotton wool balls and buds,courtesy flannels provided in bathroom. Fresh milk from a fridge on the landing also provided. Fantastically clean.Attractive decor.wide choice of breakfasts.Notes to say what items available such as shavers etc.,should you have forgotten yours. Earplugs in bedside drawer for light sleepers. The rooms were exceptional, the attention to detail was wonderful, a small fridge on the landing with extra milk, drinks was very thoughtful. If a toothbrush or razor had been forgotten, disposable ones were available from the landlady. The rooms were beautifully designed and extremely comfortable. The breakfast plentiful and delicious. So clean and well kept. The bed was very comfortable. Home comforts such as warm towels and heated bathroom floor were appreciated. On our early departure a packed breakfast was waiting for us in the fridge. Great service. Welcoming B and B owners. We have stayed on two separate occasions. Easy to find from Lincoln or the main road. We had a luxurious king size room with a super sized en suite. There was plenty of on site parking. The breakfast was very filling, with many choices, and gave us a good start for a day at the Newark fair, which was only a 10 minute drive away. The accommodation was first class looks better than the photo. The owner are very nice people very friendly. Breakfast choice brilliant and good value great choice. Any time I'm down in Lincoln will be booking this great B/B. Everything, rooms clean and modern. Family run made you feel welcome. If I had to make any negative comments would have been nice to have a little bar area so you could meet other guest. Especially if your a lone traveller. We stayed for 2 nights on our way up to Yorkshire. We found the owners were friendly and helpful and the accommodation & breakfasts were excellent. If we go that way again, we will certainly stay with them. Truthfully, this is perhaps the cleanest most efficient place I have ever stayed in. Our room was large and well prepared, the bathroom had a shower you could hold a dance in! There was nothing I didn't like. David and Hillary were excellent hosts. However having said that I chose the Gables as it was close to where I was working during my stay,. Nothing. The bed was a bit lumpy and small. Larger mugs please. Too near the main road, we were disturbed by the traffic passing the front of the guest house despite using the ear plugs provided. This was also mentioned by other guests whilst we were there. Traffic noise, but you get used to it. No faults whatsoever. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Not really anything to dislike!. Nothing. Breakfast serving times ended at 8:45 on a Sunday morning! Way too early. Staff members service at breakfast was a little unfriendly. Not too keen on all the pets but they were no problem. There was nothing we didn't like. Nothing!. Access to the wardrobe was a little difficult. Put into room in the roof, with no apparent alternative for twin room [?]. A bit too far from city centre, although regular bus near-by. asolutely nothing. stairs were quite steep. Checkout was a little early at 10am, although that's possibly because I was hungover!. no cornflakes Weetabix had chocolate in it. breakfast finished at 08:45 am. Faultless - no dislikes.
