Magnificient 18th century building set in a golf course. Vast range of whisky and fine brandy/Armagnac. Very fine public rooms with period furniture. Excellent bedrooms. Friendly staff. what a fantastic venue in its own grounds, fantastic meal in the claret jug with brilliant service through the entire stay. beautiful hotel.grounds fantastic.staff superb.absolutely stunning spa.everything we wanted for a short relaxing break.

The newly refurbished leisure centre was five star!. the leisure suite and also the staff who went out of their way to make stay enjoyable. The suite I stayed in was very comfortable. Level of comfort and friendliness of staff. The reception and bar areas were very nice and what you would expect from n hotel that claims to be 5 star. The rest of the hotel is at best a 3/4 star.Bathrooms in the rooms could be to a higher standard. Compared to other 5 star hotels I have stayed in they look dated and in need of a re-furb. Breakfast served to the room was poor for a 5 star restaurant. The presentation was excellent but the quality of the cooked produce was of a very poor standard, both the quality of the product and the way it was cooked. Restaurant food very expensive and quality did not match the price.Nicely presented but poorly cooked food. Staff very helpful though. Restuarant rather expensive (even the cheaper one) Surprised there was no swimming pool, but I guess I should have checked that out specifically myself. Having stayed at another De Vere hotel, I presumed they would all have pools. My mistake. Stupidly expensive bar, mini bar and room service prices. Very noisy at night as one functions revellers kept singing and banging doors. Food quite expensive. Childrens menu is great and gives large portions!. At checking out, the bill said £190 instead of £130 which was the online cost quoted.Bar prices a bit steep. price of drinks. My hire care had all four wheels stolen overnight while the car was parked in the hotel car park! Would have expected some kind of reduction from the bill or a gesture of some sort but none offered. Saying that, the staff were very good at sorting out the problem. The bed was faulty in our room and we had to be moved (not a problem) but the second room we were given smelled faintly like cigarette smoke which did not go away even when we left the window open.Bar and Bronte restaurant under refurb therefore temporary arrangements in place. leisure facilities all closed due to renovations. There were other weddings happening at the hotel which felt a littleless special than if the one I was attending had been the only one. Nosewing kit in the room for last minute wardrobe disfunctions!. Valet service Excellent. When booked through you we said we did not want to overlook any old rooftops.Lo and behold we were given 2 rooms overlooking mucky rooftops.Bathrooms need updating. disapointed in the restaurant. Didnt feel like we were looked after, too long inbtween meals etc.Thought that the afternoon tea and sanwiches were far to over priced for what you got. Overall extremly disapointed in the quality of food and the choice. i was disapionted that there was nowhere to sit in the spa pool area. You couldnt read a book or paper.The hotel bars were closed due to functions and the leisure club closed for re furb, none of which was mentioned at the time of booking. Hotelwas in turmoil due to refurbishment - halls and corridors full of dust sheets and workmenand had to walk up to the club house for meals, I found it very dissappointing that you still charged 'top dollar' for rooms, food and beverages.Indde prices now rweaching West London prices. This would preclude me bringing other events to the hotel.we only stayed the one night and unfortunately ther was no hot water. We were attending a party and I therefore had to shower in cold water. It was not the leisurely preparation for an evening out that I was hoping for. I do appreciate that these things happen, but I was looking forward to a long hot bath and was disappointed. i think the bedrooms are dated- the bathroom not at all a luxury. staff very indifferent, poor service for a 5*. We were not informed upon booking that the spa was closed forrefurbishment. It calls itself 'Yorkshire's only 5 Star Hotel' I would disagree that the hotel is 5 Star. The rooms were on par with a travel lodge, the staff weren't trained to the levels you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The restaurant was at best, fair with inexperienced staff and mediocre food.
