As soon as my partner and I arrived we were greeted politely and we felt extremely welcome. We were taken up to our room and my bag was carried for me, we were given information about the services that we could experience and were showed around our room. We dined in the less formal restaurant and we were extremely well looked after with attentive waiters/waitresses. The food was absoloutely delicious, a must for any guest! The room was spacious and well equipped, warm and comfortable. Breakfast.
all reviews » We loved it all, the friendly staff, who managed to be friendly and informative whilst being professional but not overbearing. This makes guests feel relaxed and not 'on ceremony' . The meal was outstanding, totally fabulous. We so appreciated the extra touch of a special dessert for our newly graduated son. Loved the room, bed was fabulous, decoration. Was just lovely. Plenty of big fluffy towels . Loved loved loved. A wonderful small English hotel. The staff go the extra measure to ensure complete satisfaction. Superb dining that was way beyond our expectations. Our room was warm and cozy and had a beautiful view of lovely gardens and surrounding countryside. The location is ideal for those who want to see "the real England." Recommend without equivocation. Having loved the hotel when we previously visited, there is always the worry it won't live up to expectations the second time - those worries disappeared the moment we arrived. Wonderful staff and glorious gardens, delightful rooms and excellent food. What more can you ask for?. The restaurant is superb, and the quality of food excellent. Both dinner and breakfast were of the highest quality. Staff throughout the hotel were first-rate - attentive, polite, and helpful. The grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained. Lovely old manor house and gardens - well worth a walk round, although I'm not sure the kitchen gardener knows much about gardening. We will definitely recommend the hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff not to formal and happy to talk to you. Wonderful location and very comfortable atmosphere and comfortable and lovely rooms. The girls on reception were extremely helpful when I needed help getting internet connection and letting me stay in my room after check out time. ...just a lovely hotel with lots of personal touches and attention to detail. We really enjoyed our stay.very well looked after.the hotel was very comfortable and clean.would definitely stay there again if in the area. The rooms in the new building are not up to standard. Tiny bathroom with nowhere to hang clothes, poor workmanship in construction, small wardrobe entirely filled by ironing board. The hotel, the grounds, the staff, and the restaurant were all excellent, but the room let the show down badly. No air conditioning in bedrooms, even in the modern building, which for the cost of the room is very poor. My friend stayed at the cheap Holiday Inn and she had air con. I didn't book for dinner on the first night and couldn't be fitted in until 9pm, so had have room service. Wasn't impressed that there were only 2 pieces of meat in the pan fried beef medallions and that I couldn't choose which cheeses i'd like from the 5 makes in the selection. noise from the road in our room. Noise in room overnight, buzzing noise that was difficult to identify. nothing. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner. nothing. No complaints!. Nothing. Parts of hotel and our bedroom needing decoration. Nothing muck. Small bathroom. Being forgotten by room service shortly after arrival. Dinner not up to Relais and Chateau standards. Undercooked poached egg on haddock/asparagus starter, main course lamb very salty with a glutenous sauce. poor food/service in brasserie restaurant.
