The cheerfulness of the staff who were vey helpful and an excellent receptionist on check in. Size of the room, the friendliness of the staff and the food.Friendly and comfortable. food available till 9.30pm - v handy as we were late arriving........the freindliness of the staff and the quality and choice of the food. Everything was fine apart for the cost. food very good if a bit expensive. Convenient location to the town centre. The original building was a very fine example of Victorian architecture. The hotel was located within a short drive of Stoneleigh Park where we were exhibiting. Perhaps you should update your signage outside as we were not sure ifwe had arrived because the board was not facing in our direction as wearrived. We had to go in to reception to see if we had come to theright place!!!. The plumbing could do with upgrading. Loos didnt flush very well. in a large, double room - only 1 chair! There was space for another.Could have more fruit and fruit juice choices at breakfast. slightly dated in places i.e. avacado bathroom suite. the sign or lack of, was not visable or non existent i had to ring the hotel to find out if i had arrived at the correct place. decoration dated. Small tv set with only 5 channels. informing reception when bar service required.mattress and decor had seen better days but this was not a major problem. The high cost. did not see a lift. cleanliness in bathroom poor, general decor shabby and dirty. Could not get hot water for a shower. Despite it being against the law, on the landing where my room was another guest was smoking making the atmosphere very unpleaseant. I am not sure what action the hotel could take in this instance. The hotel was generally tired and run down. The rooms were very hot and the bed very uncomfortable. The bathroom was 30 years overdue for renovation.The hotel appeared to be understaffed. the hotel is need of renovation, the carpets in the en-suite were old and stained and the bathroom suites were in need of upgrading.The bedroom furniture is in need of modernising. The hotel is in need of renovatio inside and out. During our stay we attended a meeting at a hotel in the town centre which was modern, clean and well staffed and the same price!.
