One of the most peaceful hotels we have ever stayed in, set in rural North Yorkshire on the edge of the North York Moors, with a large and quiet garden. We received a friendly welcome and were well looked after during our stay. The hotel had a very 'old fashioned' feel about it which was delightful, and a welcome contrast to impersonal corporate style hotels so often encountered. The food was very good, and appeared to have been fresh and locally sourced, but fell a little short of gourmet. .
