The extremely helpful and pleasant mannered reception staff. The room was very well designed, great size and comfort, plus very peaceful. The distance from Glasgow may put some off, (well worth the distance), and easy access to M74 Motorway, so only 20 minutes away from Glasgow. Much more scenic and tranquil than staying in city centre. This hotel is more luxurious than many 4 star hotels I have stayed in. Cannot recommend enough !!.
all reviews » Everything, I could not believe that I could get such a great room for such a decent price. I stayed in the Harris suite and it was awsome, the only word to describe it. Staff were friendly and helpful, room clean, bed comfy, breakfast good. All together one of the best hotels within the area regardless of price range. The food out the kitchen was excellent, staff friendly but not intrusive, room was very clean as was the whole hotel, modern looking and very reasonably priced, I had the Harris Suite at £70 per night, bed and breakfast. I have paid nearly twice that in the city and received half the comfort. Worthy of consideration. The hotel was in an ideal location just off the motorway with nice scenic views. It would make a good base for seeing the area and travelling to Glasgow and Edinburgh on day trips. The hotel was very comfortable and clean with friendly staff and good quality food. It was very good value for the price. The setting of the hotel was excellent, it was also very accesible from the motorway. Rooms were very well appointed and the food in the restaurant was first class. The staff were very attentive and also informative too. Friendly helpfull staff, good food, comfortable clean rooms. Hard to find anything to dislike, we had a fault with our toilet seat, as soon as I reported it the duty manager came and checked it out, tried to fix it, apologised as the hotel was full and he couldn't offer us another room, but gave us a free bottle of wine as compensation, so even this was a positive!. Shower but no bath. Shaving mirror - light is behind user so it doesn't illuminate the face properly for shaving. Nowhere to put toiletries - sink area too small, shelf too narrow. Nothing. During my stay, some guests were noisy, so I didn't sleep well. However, I know now that I should have contacted reception about this. This would not put me off visiting again. Nothing. Our room was close to a party room, so there was some noise. If you will need quiet while there, be sure to request a room away from the common areas. A few more pillows on the beds would have been nice. Nothing. No problems/concerns. The hotel is remote. One very small thing some of the lighting in the bathroom didn't work. I would say there was a leak in the bathroom ceiling and it wasn't completely repaired. nothing. I had problems with the hotel WiFi, which were not resolved in spite of the best efforts of the staff. I was slightly disappointed with my evening meal. Rooms were cold, no centralised heating system. Room was very warm,the quilt was too thick. Bathroom looked tired. Food wasn't very high standard. Only 1 very minor thing..... tv remote didn't work (room 10). Nothing. Hard edges to the bed that I kept tripping over! Lack of a bidet - because I'm used to one and therefore more fastidious, I guess. Although not objecting to giving to Charity I do not like it added to my bill without being asked. No gym. Bathroom had little shelf room. Washbasin blocked and tap broken. Only one towel in double room. No anti slip mat in shower. Not enough shelf space in bathroom. Heavy duvet in summer conditions....too warm. Pleasant stay spoilt by hotel telephoning me the day I left demanding payment of a/c when it had already been settled when checking-out. Shower broken, only one towel provided for a couple. The room is very small and the hotel is far from the railway station. It is not convenient if you don't have a car. I suffer with hay fever and the lillys were very strong scented resulting in me feeling I had a cold. Trivial for the majority of guests as others I'm sure would enjoy the scent. Very noisy. Advertised as a quiet and tranquill but was absolutely none of this was true. There was a tribute act on next to the foyer area and we had nowhere else to sit for a quiet drink except outside.
