Just spent a night here to go to a wedding and thought it excellent, as it is well away from traffic noise, its clean, the staff are great and the breakfast very tasty. Tiny issue, its quite hard to find - go to Lucas House reception - Martin

After a memorable experience at the kensington, I have decided to write this review as a thank-you for making my stay an excellent one. The hotel itself was a very well kept old fashioned building, inside was very clean and comfortable. The room was tidy and cozy and the breakfast in the morning was great. What made the stay even more speacial were the staff, that were very friendly and welcoming which helped make the stay even more enjoyable. Although it's a bit shabby in parts of the hotel, our room was spacious and clean with tea/coffee making facilities, TV, easy chairs etc. The staff were friendly and helpful - Tony

The apartments in Edgbaston offer an excellent alternative to a hotel room. They are located on the very busy Hagley Road but the noise is not overwhelming. The apartments back onto leafy gardens that are something of an oasis within the hustle and bustle of the city. They feel secure and have access to free parking via electronic gates. The check in information is sent via email and is very straightforward. You are given an access code that allows you to collect your key from a safe box. The ap - Phil

We used this hotel as a base for a reunion, booking six rooms on a D/B/B deal for three nights. All the rooms were well appointed and comfortable, although some were rather tortuous to get to in this Grade II building. The breakfasts were great, with comprehensive, freshly cooked food. The evening meals were absolutely wonderful, with a change of menu each night. The staff were all excellent, with especial mention for our " oriental " waitress, Annie. We booked into the hotel for a two night package with some friends. The package included an evening meal. We were up in Birmingham for the Twenty 20 finals day at Edgbaston on 15th August and we stayed Friday and Saturday night. We had our meal on the Friday night. We read the reviews and were expecting the worst but we were very pleasantly surprised. A friend and I stayed at the Marriott Hotel in Birmingham and to start with I was unsure whether I had made the right choice after reading some of the reviews. From the outside the building looks dated and we were a bit unsure what to expect when we got inside. We were amazed once we entered the hotel, it was incredible!! The hotel is absolutely beautiful! Myself, husband, mum and 2 children (7&11) stayed at this hotel for 1 night when visiting the NIA for a show. Yes it`s a little dated but for the price it is excellent. I have previously stayed at the Norfolk (don`t do it) on my visits to Birmingham but last time it really had gone down hill. The Apollo only cost us £3 extra between the whole group and it was 100% better than the Norfolk. You can usually park directly outside your room (which is great) and the staff are extremely friendly an - Steve

My wife and I stayed with our 6 month old son for 1 night, the hotel is very well located if you are going to Birmingham. We found the staff very helpful and thought the food was very good, the room was a good size leaving us enough room even with the travel cot set up. We would stay here again - Mohamed
