We decided to take the grandchildren away for a short break and found Aveland House hotel on the internet. We booked online and then off we went. We found the hotel very easily from the instructions given to us. On our arrival we found Jacqui and David the proprietors very welcoming, the family room we had booked suited our puposes very well. It was clean and comfortable and the hotel has a family feel. Jacqui and David were very helpful with where and what to see and knew their location in deta - Sylvia

Torquay is a long town and Babbacombe an area to the east of the centre. Good links, however, make access to the whole area an easy process. Babbacombe Guest House is no architectural beauty but once inside that ceases to be of importance as the welcome is very friendly and the whole establishment spotless. I guess our room was much as the others, not large but in very good order and with a clever use of space. Despite the busy road we found it quiet both from external and internal disturbance. - Alan

Stayed with Kate and Ed last week. Had a fab front room that you could lay in bed and see the coast and the next town with lights on after dark. We arrived late and Kate made us a delicious homecooked meal which we needed after a six hour drive.We had other evening meals as well all superb and beautifully cooked. All staff were friendly and hard working and nothing was too much trouble.Ed introduced my husband to a bottle of local wine which he has raved about ever since !! Breakfast filled us u - Geoff

We stayed the night of the 27th July 2006 on a whim. We saw the hotel on the internet but were unable to book it so phoned up.Though short our stay was very pleasant, nice room with great view, good breakfast and walkable distance from the centre. Heather was very pleasant even though I didn't recognise her in chefs gear at breakfast. Have seen good reviews for this hotel and would agree. My first time in Torquay was fun and lovely countryside. - Anthony

This hotel was really nice. I stayed here with 5 other friends for a weekend. Me and the person i shared room with had the biggest room. It was clean, tidy and we had a outside area where we could go to one of our friends rooms. When we arrived they said that the rooms where not ready but we were fine by that, the lady said to go look around, we did and thought it was really nice with looks of nice things that made it look posh. :P You could easily get lost in this place.. we stayed for £55 a ro - William

Two sisters, two husbands and one 12 year old son have just returned from Lindum Lodge. We stayed for a week. Location is very central, yet quite at night. The owners were such lovely hosts. Very friendly and informative, couldn't do enough for us. Hotel was spotless, yet not clinical. Very homely. Breakfast was cooked to perfection every morning. Staff were so neat and tidy, and very attentive. Rooms were bright and airy. We came away feeling that we were leaving friends. Couldn't praise it hig - Mrs

Our stay at Ansteys Lea was very enjoyable - the breakfast was varied and tasty - the evening meal was very good value for £12.50. The room had free view television and a fridge which for £25 per person was extremely good value. - Adonica

on first arrival we were greeted by the owners, and she checked us in and helped recommend places to visit and how to get to places we wanted to visit. once checked in she showed us to our room which had the most comfortable bed i've ever come across. the breakfast was high quality and delicious, and the owners made sure we had enough to eat and offered more if wanted, a great touch, although the original portions of full english and 2 slices of toast each was more than enough. the prices are g - Paula

Have just returned from a lovely weekend at Cary Court in Torquay. Drove up to this lovely plantation villa style property above the town I never realised Torquay was so mountainous. After a long drive down from East Anglia we were greetedtand made very welcome by Paul who helped us in with our luggage and showed us our large very comfortable room with a comfy four poster bed. The ensuite shower room was very clean modern and spacious. The house felt lovely and warm and instantly we felt - Susan

Proprietors Jackie and Bob greeted us personally and made us feel most welcome. Room was very clean and pleasant and bathroom was fine. Breakfast was of a good standard and plentiful. Overall the hotel has a homely feel about it with pleasant lounge bar and dining room, and nice garden area. It is situated in a quiet road off Sheddon Hill just up from the sea front. This is our third visit in 2 years and will definitely be returning again. Superb value for money and with personal attention - Fiona

We were a party of recycled teenagers, had a great time,very good staff, the owners are excellent hosts and made our stay a pleasure, luckily the weather was very good ,sunny all week. value for money, will be back - Ruth

I chose this because of the rave reviews and knew the minute we entered the hotel that it was a worthy winner. The two owners were polite, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the conservatory, overlooking the bay and had a ringside seat when the hot air balloon went up and down, especially after dark as the balloon was lit up. No time for us to do that unfortunately but it looked good fun. As has been mentioned many times, the hotel was spotless, attractive and well equipped. The - Enoque
