Came to Birmingham for the Footman James Classic Motor Show and decided to stay on an extra day to sightsee. This hotel was the perfect place for us. It was very clean, staff superbly friendly, and the room was whisper quiet. This is important because it's only a block off the main drag, so thought it might be noisy. We slept soundlessly, and were able to enjoy all the dining and nightlife of Broad Street without having to have it infiltrate our hotel room. Would definitely stay here again and r - Eric

Superb! Everything was perfect...the website blurb had set high standards and they were more than accurate, such a relief and welcome surprise when often websites give an overly generous description. The room (spacious and cleverly organised), breakfast (wow!), staff (very helpful and happy to help) and location were very impressive, a wonderful stay from start to finish! Thank you - Anonymous

Clean spacious room with very comfortable beds. Lots of hot water in ensuite. Decor in whole hotel was smart and in relaxing hues. Breakfasts were superb and on hearing how much I enjoyed the poached eggs and said I could never achieve them like that the Chef on duty took us into the kitchen and demonstrated how to make the perfect poached egg. We stayed there 5 years ago and decided to stay again as it was such a convenient and friendly venue. We went out for a celebration dinner on Friday evening and I happened to mention that it was our 53rd wedding anniversary. When we returned around 11:15pm, the was an envelope on the bed with a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary from all the staff at Canal Side. We were amazed and absolutely delighted. Plenty of room and extremely well equipped, with a manager (Daniel) who went to the trouble of coming round and sorting out the television so that we could watch it, rather than, as one might have feared, ignoring our request on the grounds that it was after hours and he could be off home! Excellent in every way, and we've already started recommending it! We'll definitely stay again next time. - Henry
